The Goss: The Week That Was

Boo and Pistol may be in the firing line (again) as Johnny Depp is reportedly set to testify in court that his estranged wife, Amber Heard, lied to authorities when she brought the dogs into Australia, igniting Barnaby Joyce's "war on terrier" last year.

TMZ, the bastion of celebrity court coverage, said Depp is due to give evidence at a hearing over the restraining order Heard was granted in May after the couple separated. A number of documents have been made public, including The Pirates of the Caribbean star suggesting Heard was not telling the truth when she claimed she did not understand Australia's quarantine laws when bringing the dogs down under.

The interview that saved Mel Gibson $500,000

Six years after they separated, Mel Gibson's divorce with Oksana Grigorieva is finally concluded.

The original Mad Max star originally offered her a $US15 million settlement, which she declined, before they settled on a figure of $US750,000 on the condition she never speak publicly about the alleged domestic abuse she endured. Something she then did during an interview with Howard Stern. Gibson, who had only paid her $US250,000 at the time, counter-sued, claiming she breached their agreement.

Last week the California Court of Appeals ruled in Gibson's favour, meaning he no longer has to pay his ex-wife, with whom he has a daughter, Lucia, the remaining amount.

There is barely a weekend before Christmas that isn't full of fun runs, yoga marathons or health conventions which people are more than happy to fork out, on average, about $70 to attend, making wellness warriors the new investment bankers.

Lauren Pell, founder of The Wellness Festival, says wellbeing is a growth sector for many entrepreneurs.

"People are recognising investing in health and wellbeing before it becomes a problem," she said. "Preventative health is a big trend in not only fitness circles but the corporate world as well."

The Wellness Festival, a sold out event for 600 that took place in Melbourne this year, will stage a Sydney version on October 15 with the help of a number of blue chip sponsors, including Qantas.

"We had lots of HR representatives from corporations attending the first one, the culture of wellness is clearly spreading."
