    As one of the only Aboriginal reporters in WA, I feel like I have a duty to call out WA media. First and foremost, I know I am young and new to this industry but I also have witnessed tragic events that this state’s media refuses to cover.

    Sexualised abuse of women in media is all too common. With we are campaigning for employers to do more to protect and support their female and non-binary staff from online abuse. Fill out the survey to help inform this campaign:

    As I sometimes do to keep a spotlight on this, I just spent a few minutes collecting a fraction of the sexualised abuse I get every time I interview a Prime Minister - female politicians, journalists, public figures get this non-stop.

    The Malaysian Government and its agencies must not criminalise journalism. They must cease the police investigation into a legitimate public interest news story and ensure the safety of our colleagues, including the members among the five Australians.

    The reality is that younger workers don't have the security of permanent employment that existed in Ita's day - and they are often the first to be made redundant when there are job cuts, as is happening now at her ABC.

    I’d say the millennial ABC staff who have slaved their guts out for the national broadcaster despite workplace insecurity (and casual underpayments) only to be brutally made redundant are pretty resilient

    Lack resilience? How insulting. Us millennials at the ABC were usually paid less but expected to do so much more than many of our older colleagues, plus many are on insecure contracts for years - clearly needs to go & meet more of them

    And once again, the minister has failed to understand the high level of casual employment in the arts. When the Covid hit, I was regularly employed (musician) by 4 separate organisations to make my living. None gave me JobKeeper, and only one has recommenced work.
