After fierce and sustained organizing, CR Los Angeles and its allies successfully organized the LA Board of Supervisors to suspend a jail expansion plan in favor of assessing alternatives to imprisonment. Read about their decision here. CRLA has specifically been fighting a proposed new women's jail, which is included in the suspension.

On May 30th, CR hosted a Town Hall to discuss the new SF jail plan. Allies from SF Coalition on Homelessness, TGIJP, and Taxpayers for Public Safety led an important discussion with community members about how the new jail proposal came to be, the destructive impacts it would have on our communities, and discussed alternatives to a rebuild project.
