Roman Anin

Roman Anin, Russia, is an investigative reporter for the Moscow-based weekly newspaper Novaya Gazeta.

Anin’s investigations have focused on government and military corruption. He produced a series of articles on a criminal organization linked to assassinations of business leaders – a gang led by the son of General Vladimir Shamanov, head of Russia’s Airborne Forces. Anin documented how the general tried to use military personnel to block police investigations into his son’s activities. He also has written about corruption among politicians and businessmen involved in construction contracts for the Sochi Olympic Games. Anin also worked with the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists on tobacco lobbying and corporate corruption stories.
