Paul Warnick, a 1970s Toronto Sun newsroom manager, died Sunday from Parkinson's disease. He was 73.

Paul's media career included reporter with the Stars and Stripes, the U.S, Department of Defense newspaper, while he was in the U.S. Marine Corps, says the Toronto Star obit written by Katie Daubs.

He also worked on Fleet Street in London, England, as a reporter in the 1960s and at the Hamilton Spectator before joining the Sun in the mid-1970s. He left the Sun in 1978 to join the Toronto Star news desk.

The Star's obit says the affable newspaperman later became the Star's sports editor, Sunday Star editor, foreign editor, and editor of training and development. He retired in 1998.

"Sorry to hear about Paul Warnick," says Les Pyette, a 1970s city editor and former publisher. " He was assistant managing editor and I believe at one point in charge of the Sunday paper, although it was for a brief time. 

"Paul was a good newsman, spent time at the Hamilton Spectator and Toronto Star. His time at the Sun was brief, but he made an impact."
