Salt on the Beach, North Fremantle's iconic beachfront restaurant, is expected to reopen in October once significant renovations to the venue are complete.
The restaurant closed on June 8, but plans for its redevelopment had until now remained shrouded in mystery.

Renovations at Salt on the Beach
A quick glimpse of development at the old site of popular Fremantle beach restaurant Salt on the Beach.
An application to WA's liquor licensing authority by the restaurant's co-owner, however, has revealed some of the new vision for the beachfront location.
The renovated premises will be divided into five sub-areas, according to the Liquor Licensing application by Ian Hutchinson, which in August was still being assessed.
"The Hamptons" on the southern side will provide a formal, full service dining area, while "The Dunes", in the centre, will offer a casual beach side dining experience with a range of dining tables.
"The Pines", in the northwest corner, will provide a quieter, more intimate setting with laid back music, drinks and tapas for seated and standing patrons.
And "The Playground", in the northeast corner, will cater for children and families while an unlicensed kiosk will cater to beachgoers.
As part of the $2.5 million redevelopment, the northern half of the existing premises has been demolished to make way for a new structure with a tiered roof.
A raised deck with views of the ocean and an upgrade and expansion to the children's playground are also part of the plans to make the new venue more family friendly.
The owners were also considering redoing the perimeter of the western border to include a 70 metre boardwalk terrace along the beachfront, but it is unclear if this will go ahead.
An application to the liquor licensing authority proposed the venue trade from 10am to midnight, seven days a week.Â
It is also understood that the owners hope to lift a liquor licensing restriction which previously only allowed them to sell alcohol to customers who were seated.Â
Earlier this month, a spokesperson for the site's owners did not yet want to comment on what's in store for one of Fremantle's most popular beach locations, but assured there would be an announcement made soon.
The restaurant site is currently boarded up, with large parts of the outside area ripped up.
WAtoday was unsuccessful in its attempts to contact the owners on Thursday.Â
