• UNDP Administrator and Deputy Administrator visit Tajikistan National Mine Action Centre

      The Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Ms. Helen Clark and Ms. Cihan Sultanoğlu, UNDP’s Assistant Administrator and Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and CIS visited the Tajikistan National Mine Action Centre (TNMAC). The Center was established as an independent national entity by the Government of Tajikistan in January 2014. Since 2003 a comprehensive mine action programme had been set up and coordinated with the support of UNDP. “Nationalizing Tajikistan’s mine action center is an important step towards taking on full national ownership”, explained Deputy Director Alisho Shomahmadov during the seo visit.

What We Do

UNDP has been on the ground in Tajikistan since 1994. Nowadays, Tajikistan is a peaceful and stable country, with a rapidly developing economy. However, it is still simultaneously facing challenges of transition, a post-conflict state and of “ordinary” poverty reduction. UNDP’s programme in the country consequently represents a broad spectrum of activities, within all five practice areas.

Country Programme Action Plan between the Government of Tajikistan and the United Nations Development Programme, 2010 ‐ 2015

UNDP Tajikistan’s Country Programme Action Plan (2010 – 2015) involved the participation of the Government of Tajikistan and directly addresses the priorities of the Government of Tajikistan’s National Development Strategy (NDS) and the Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRS), as well as the Joint Country Programme Strategy (JCPS), developed in collaboration with CIDA and ADB).
