Consumer Opt-out
Opt Out of Interest-Based Advertising
NAI members are committed to transparency and choice. The NAI opt-out tool was developed in conjunction with our members and the DAA for the express purpose of allowing consumers to "opt out" of the Interest-Based Advertising delivered by our members on Web pages using cookies. Some NAI members may start using non-cookie technologies as stated in NAI’s Guidance on the use of non-cookie technologies. To learn more about non-cookie technologies, or how to opt out of these technologies, please go to our FAQ on Non-Cookie Technologies.
Some of the ads you receive on Web pages are customized based on predictions about your interests generated from your visits over time and across different web-sites. This type of ad customization — sometimes called "interest-based" or “online behavioral” advertising — is enabled through various technologies, including browser cookies as well as other non-cookie technologies. Such online advertising helps support the free content, products and services you get online. Learn more about Interest-Based Advertising.
Using the tools on this page, you can opt out from receiving Interest-Based Advertising from some or all of our participating member companies that use HTTP cookies on your computer browser for Interest-Based Advertising.
For now, you may use this page to:
- Find out which participating companies conduct Interest-Based Advertising on your browser using cookies on your browser;
- See all NAI members and learn more about their advertising and privacy practices;
- Check whether you’ve already opted out from member companies that are using cookies for Interest-Based Advertising;
- Opt out of cookie-enabled interest-based advertising by some or all members, using opt-out cookies to store your preferences in your browser; or
- Use the “Choose All Companies” feature to opt out in one step from all currently participating NAI member companies that use cookies on your browser for Interest-Based Advertising.
Following an opt out, the NAI member companies listed below cease collecting and using data from across web domains owned or operated by different entities for the purpose of customizing advertising based on preferences or interests known or inferred from the data collected (Interest Based Advertising or IBA) when those NAI member companies use cookies.
Opting out does not mean you will no longer receive online advertising. It does mean that the NAI member company or companies from which you opted out will no longer customize ads based on your interests and web usage patterns using cookie-based technology.
Please Note: Technology used to deliver interest-based advertising continues to evolve and change. As of the date of publication of this page, this opt out covers interest-based advertising delivered to your device via HTTP cookies only. It does not cover the use of other technologies that NAI member companies may use to deliver interest-based advertising. NAI and its members are currently working on developing a mechanism to allow you to opt out of the use of non-cookie technologies for Interest-Based Advertising by NAI members. NAI has published its Guidance on the Use of Non-Cookie Technologies for Interest-Based Advertising and is working with its members during an implementation and test period to ensure that new business models and the use of non-cookie technologies are implemented by NAI members in a manner that is consistent with this Guidance.
