Come Home to Roost
From Submedia
In this week’s sedition, we take a look at the so-called “War on Cops” in the United Snakes, simmering anti-cop sentiment in the UK and the fallout stemming from Turkey’s recent failed coup.

Here are the last five episodes of season one of The Brilliant podcast. They were mostly recorded at the end of March, so obviously are a little bit dated, but only a little. Most of the themes we discuss here are still relevant and topical but here is where we were at four months ago. Since these recordings we have had adventures and begun season two of this podcast. These will be worked on over the next few weeks and will available in August.
These were made possible by the hard work of Linn O'Mable.
From Wired
On the first dayof the sprawling RSA security industry conference in San Francisco, a giant screen covering the wall of the Moscone Center’s cavernous lobby cycles through the names and headshots of keynote speakers: steely-eyed National Security Agency director Michael Rogers in a crisp military uniform; bearded and besuited Whitfield Diffie and Ron Rivest, legendary inventors of seminal encryption protocols that made the Internet safe for communication and commerce. And then there’s Moxie Marlinspike, peering somberly into the distance wearing a bicycle jersey and an 18-inch-tall helmet shaped like a giant spear of asparagus. “It was the only picture I could find,” Marlinspike deadpans as we walk into the building.
From Contr'un: Anarchist Theory
Each of the earliest pioneers of the anarchist tradition asked, I think, a question or three that still very much pertain to the problems of 21st-century life. They’re not always easy to extract or to drag into the present, and they’re not always flattering to us when applied to the culture of anarchism that has developed since the late 19th century. Working from the roots of the tradition has been a valuable experience, both in terms of focusing my analysis on key concepts and in terms of gaining tools with which to understand why the anarchist milieu is the often frustrating place that it is.

"In the week since this very short video was completed, the entire world has changed. But one thing has remained consistent and if anything it has become more coherent, clearer lines have been drawn, definitive sides have been chosen. We are living in a world laid bare. The truths we held in our hearts are now evident. What was hidden is revealed."
