Anti-DRM activists go to W3C meeting to protest Digital Restrictions Management in Web standards
Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA -- Tuesday, March 22, 2016 -- On Sunday the Free Software Foundation (FSF) led a protest at the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) against an attempt by Netflix, Hollywood and other technology and media companies to weave Digital Restrictions Management (DRM) into the HTML standard that undergirds the Web. With about 75 protesting outside an ongoing W3C event, it was the largest protest ever at the standards body.

Free Software Foundation submits comment to Copyright Office with over 1200 co-signers calling for end to DMCA anti-circumvention provisions
BOSTON, Massachusetts, USA -- Tuesday, March 8th, 2016 -- On March 3rd, 2016, the Free Software Foundation (FSF) submitted a comment along with over 1200 co-signers to the U.S. Copyright Office in response to its *Section 1201 Study: Notice and Request for Public Comment* in regards to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act's (DMCA) anti-circumvention provisions. These comments were submitted in person by FSF campaigns manager Zak Rogoff, as the Copyright Office refused to offer a means of electronic submission that did not require the use of proprietary JavaScript.

Free Software Foundation submits comments to U.S. Department of Education encouraging free licensing for all grant-funded materials

Library of Congress issues limited exemptions to DMCA anti-circumvention provisions but leaves users without full control over their own computing
On October 27th, 2015, the Library of Congress published its list of exemptions to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), denying many of the proposed exemptions and modifying or limiting others. Because of this, users of a wide variety of software and devices, such as ebook readers and video game consoles, still do not have the right to control their own computing. Even for the areas where the exemptions permit users some additional control, they do not permit sharing of methods for obtaining it, and last only three years.
GNU ethical criteria for code repositories emphasize privacy, freedom, and copyleft
