Frieda Inescort (29 June 1901 in Edinburgh, Scotland – 26 February 1976 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California) was a Scottish-born actress best known for creating the role of Sorel Bliss in Noël Coward's play Hay Fever. She played the shingled lady in John Galsworthy's 1927 Broadway production Escape.
Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, as Frieda Wrightman, she was the daughter of Scots-born journalist John "Jock" Wrightman and actress Elaine Inescourt, who was of German and Polish descent. They married in 1899 but parted ways when their daughter was still a young child.
While she lived in England, Inescort wrote for a newspaper in London and worked as secretary to Lord Astor. (Another source says that she was secretary to Lady Astor.) After coming to the United States, she not only acted but also worked as associate editor of The Exporter's Encyclopedia.
Inescort's acting debut came in The Truth About Blayds (1922), which was presented at the Booth Theatre on Broadway. Her other Broadway credits include You and I (1923), The Woman on the Jury (1923), Windows (1923), The Fake (1924), Ariadne (1925), Hay Fever (1925), Love in a Mist (1926), Mozart (1926), Trelawny of the "Wells" (1927), Escape (1927-1928), Napi (1931), Company's Coming (1931), Springtime for Henry (1931-1932), When Ladies Meet (1933), False Dreams, Farewell (1934), Lady Jane (1934), Soldier's Wife (1944-1945), The Mermaids Singing (1945-1946), and You Never Can Tell (1948).
Turhan Bey (30 March 1922 – 30 September 2012) was an Austrian-born actor. Turhan was active in Hollywood from 1941 to 1953. He was dubbed "The Turkish Delight" by his fans. After his return to Austria, he pursued careers as a photographer and stage director. Returning briefly to Hollywood to receive an award, he made several guest appearances in 1990s television series including SeaQuest DSV, Murder, She Wrote and Babylon 5 as well as a number of films. After retiring he appeared in a number of documentaries, including a German-language documentary on his life.
Turhan was born Turhan Gilbert Selahattin Sahultavy in Vienna, Austria, on 30 March 1922, as the son of a Turkish diplomat and a Czechoslovakian Jewish mother. After the annexation of Austria to Nazi Germany and his parents' divorce, he and his mother emigrated to the U.S. in 1940, settling in Los Angeles.
Bey was an acting student at Ben Bard's School of Dramatic Art and was active in the Pasadena Playhouse.
Schlitz Playhouse of Stars is an anthology series that was telecast from 1951 until 1959 on CBS. Offering both comedies and drama, the series was sponsored by the Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company. The title was shortened to Schlitz Playhouse, beginning with the fall 1957 season.
Initially, the show was broadcast live, but starting in the summer of 1953, some episodes were filmed in advance. Beginning with the 1956-1957 season, all of the shows were filmed.
Between October 1951 and March 1952, the hour-long show was aired at 9 pm. In April 1952, the running time was reduced from an hour to 30 minutes. The series moved to 9:30 pm in the 1955 fall season.
Two episodes served as pilots for later NBC Western series: The Restless Gun with John Payne (March 29, 1957 pilot) and Tales of Wells Fargo with Dale Robertson. The Restless Gun pilot was based on the radio series The Six Shooter, and Payne's character had the same name, Britt Ponset, as the radio character; that name was changed to Vint Bonner when the actual series began, possibly to prevent confusion with Bret Maverick in Maverick, which debuted in 1957.

Another "Pride & Prejudice" scene spliced together from three adaptions. The most recent film is the 2005 Focus Features version starring Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Bennet, Matthew Macfadyen as Mr. Darcy, and Kelly Reilly and Simon Woods as Caroline and Charles Bingley. The 1995 BBC/A&E; Production stars Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth in the leading roles, with Anna Chancellor as Caroline Bingley and Lucy Robinson as her sister Mrs. Hurst. And finally Greer Garson as Miss Bennet in the 1940 MGM version which also stars Sir Laurence Olivier as Mr. Darcy and Frieda Inescort and Bruce Lester as Caroline and Charles. Hope all the fans of each version enjoy the way I've clipped them together! For entertainment/educational purposes only.

“A Place Full of Strangers” aired on Four Star Playhouse 60 years ago, on December 8, 1955. It stars Dick Powell and Dina Merrill (making her TV acting debut), with support from Morris Ankrum, Frieda Inescort and Howard McNear. It’s an allegorical tale about the successful class of middle-aged men who’d weathered the Depression and World War II who now had to deal with the pressures of high-powered corporate life in 1950s America. Powell plays a harried businessman who flees his office one day and takes a bus to “the end of the line” where he finds a “Twilight Zone”-style limbo awaiting him. As such it definitely looks forward to such “Twilight Zone” episodes as “Walking Distance” and “A Stop at Willoughby,” although its ultimate message is a lot more reassuring than the bleak morals Rod S...

Playwright/actor/director Willard Mack was a stage and screen phenomenon, parlaying his talent with the pen into a long and lucrative stage and screen career in the beginning of the 20th Century. He's also the man who discovered Ruby Stevens, soon to be dubbed "Barbara Stanwyck". The Voice of the City marks Mack's Talkie debut, in which he plays Biff, a detective solely dedicated to the apprehension of escaped con Bobby Doyle (Robert Ames). But the savvy Biff soon senses he's been fed the wrong score and that he's after the wrong guy. And the gangsters behind the stitch up got nothing on Biff when it comes to dirty tricks. Willard Mack also wrote and directed.
