Melbourne returned to form, reminding us winter is not over yet.
After two days of blue skies, sunshine and morning temperatures nudging double digits, she pulled back the blankets and with her wicked sense of humour delivered a blast of frigid cold air.
It was 3.4 degrees at 6am in Melbourne, but it felt more like 1 degree with the wind chill.
The temperature increased ever so slightly to 3.7 degrees at 7.30am, but as if to punish Friday morning commuters even more, the wind chill picked up making it feel more like 0.5 degrees.
The mercury didn't bother climbing over 0 degrees in Ballarat, even after 7am. It was still minus 1.1 degrees at 7.30am, but if you were out in the open air it felt more like minus 5.3 degrees. Ski attire was recommended for those making their way to work.

It was minus 2 degrees at Coldstream, minus 2.4 degrees at the Yarra Valley, 2 degrees at Laverton, 2 degrees at Scoresby.

The warmest place in the state was found on the bayside at Frankston, where the mercury soared to 5 degrees.
"It was a chilly morning right across Melbourne," Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Dean Stewart said.
"And it's going to be that way for the next few days."
The main factor is a ridge of high pressure sitting just to the south of the state, which is generating only very light winds.
"To get the really cold nights you need the lights winds and clear skies, and that's exactly what we had last night," Mr Stewart said.
"That high pressure system is going to be slow moving and will hang around for a while."
At least it will keep the heavy rain at bay.
Fortunately, there will be some consolation to the frosty start - Friday is expected to be mostly sunny, with a top of 16 degrees.
But it will be time to pull on the Ugg boots again in the morning, even if some additional cloud cover warms things up.
It's expected to be 5 degrees on Saturday morning, 6 degrees on Sunday morning and 6 degrees on Monday.
Saturday is set to be a cloudy, with patchy morning fog, with a top of 14 degrees. Party cloudy conditions are forecast for Sunday, with a maximum temperature of 15 degrees.
