Fast, loud & angry whilst managing to squeeze in sweet harmony and melody. They originally started as a group of friends who played in the street to earn some change at early hours of the morning to drunk passers by. Eventually a proper band was accidentally formed and they began gigging on the UK’s DIY punk + festival scenes. Their messages range from cooperation to freedom of gender expression to attacking financial advisors’ ideologies and corrupt politicians.

A hard-edged but poetically enthralling drama about two young working-class girls who are living in the drab city of Lille, working (and being fired) from shitty jobs, trying to scrape together enough money to survive from day to day. Indeed this is a film which grapples with our everyday existence, but not without a touch of magic. The Dreamlife of Angels captures the first meeting of Isa and Marie, and follows their relationship as it unfolds over the course of time. Crucial to the narrative are the two very different dreams that each of the girls have, and how those dreams are realized.
This gem of a film boasts flaring, haunting performances by the two female leads, Élodie Bouchez and Natacha Régnier, and they rightfully shared the Best Actress award at Cannes for this movie. Their riveting deliveries carry the entire narrative, captured in a lyrical documentary style, and its a marvel to watch it all unfold. It won the César award for best film, but since the 90s it’s been criminally neglected and largely forgotten…. so don’t miss this special screening.

Children at heart who love comedic, poetic, theatric, yet at times provocative storytelling alongside truly magical music, should prepare themselves for the surprising world of… Ronley Teper’s Lipliners. Teper was born in South Africa and grew up in Toronto. A musician and performance artist, she has been an active member in the arts scene for almost two decades. Over this time, she has recorded 5 independent LP’s; composed, and performed works for puppet theatre in both Summerworks and Fringe Festivals in Toronto and Montreal. In early 2010, she was invited as a guest speaker at the first TEDx talks in Bangkok, Thailand. Since then Teper has participated in a variety of collaborations and artist’s residencies from Reykjavik, Iceland, to Guadalajara, Mexico both performing and exhibiting works that have developed a body of work that touches on a wide range of stylistic influences from folk, funk, jazz, cinematic, theatric comedy and pop music and that listeners compare to artists like Tom Waits, Mary Margaret O’Hara, Frank Zappa, and Kate Bush. http://www.ronleyteper.com/

He has spent the last twelve months touring Europe and playing DIY Festivals (Strummercamp, 0161 Festival, A Winter of Discontent) as well as major Festivals (Glastonbury) whilst recording his debut solo album due for release in 2016. All Included is a small campaign organization in Amsterdam that struggles for free migration and sustainable development. We support the migrants’ movement that fights for their rights.
The current developments on the EU-borders demonstrate the power of migration that breaks the illusion of Europe as an island of equal rights, civilization, democracy and welfare(state). We support the migrants who come to our borders and welcome them. The EU has always pretended to be in control of the border security without degenerating into a Fortress Europe. Given the large numbers of migrants entering ‘irregularly’ today, the EU broke out in panic while portraying migrants as a threat and migration as a crime. The repressive EU-deal like the one with Turkey is not new. Other buffer states such as Morocco, Libya, Mauritania, Senegal have had to sign those deals in the past where migrants, irrespective of flight pattern, are kept outside the EU. Human rights are violated outside the EU in return of a bag of money. The war against immigrants is just more visible now because it is clear that the EU cannot control the migration at its borders. We support migrants breaking through borders and confronting the image of the EU as an tolerant civilization. The EU is pressuring African states to stop migration threatening with stopping development Aid: the Velletta agreements. We say: Open Escape Routes! Stop Deportations! Undocumented migrants in Amsterdam are where possible supported by All Included.
What’s included?
All Included Amsterdam is a new initiative that fights for freedom of movement and for the right of residence for migrants. In a time when globalization is a fact, migration should be recognized as part of a package deal. It’s All Included. This means: no illegality, no detention for undocumented migrants and no forced evictions.
With the disappearance of national borders, national identity disappears. Everyone becomes global citizen and deserves regardless of origin equal rights and equal opportunities. Therefore also for migrants ‘all included’ rights and obligations.
Allincluded.nl fightsg for an open society through extra-parliamentary action which intervenes in the political climate of assimilation, closeness and fear. Through direct assistance to rejected asylum seekers and other migrants without residence permit, indictments against abuses of current polities are being propagated. We want to contribute to the public debate with alternative visions of migration and globalization based on open borders, solidarity and initiative from the base.

We Are Here is a self-organised refugee action collective.
Refused refugees living on the streets of the Netherlands struggle for life. Since 2007 the asylum policy in the Netherlands started to change. Refugees who have been rejected are no longer entitled to basic rights such as shelter and food. Even when it is impossible to return to their countries of origin, the Dutch government argues that they can leave voluntarily. Denying them access to reception centers, putting them in prison and forcing them to survive in parks, railway stations and insecure hiding places, that is the way to convince them to leave this country. On European level the asylum policy also forms a problem for refugees. Most people of We Are Here are not allowed to stay in The Netherlands, cannot go back to their own country, but can also not move to another European country, due to the Dublin II agreement.
This self-organized action by the refugees has highlighted a humanitarian problem that has been growing for years and was hidden from the public eye. Now these people have made themselves visible and seek solutions by entering in dialogue with civil society and democratic representatives. To realize their aims they need to be together, safe and visible. Dana Sipos is a nomadic Canadian folkist who weaves fragments of stories, myths and dreams into songs that map heart and country and the spaces between.
Spending her formative years in the Canadian subarctic city of Yellowknife, Dana Sipos’ songwriting is infused with a sense of surrealism best influenced by the supernatural experiences of Canada’s high country. A true songsmith, Sipos creates nuanced songs that are hauntingly hopeful and captivatingly calm, yet filled with a wild wind.
With an unconventional traveling style, Sipos has spent the last few years touring by tall ship and bicycle, canoe and train. In cahoots with Yukon producer Jordy Walker (Tanya Tagaq), Roll Up the Night Sky was recorded in the home studio of Richard Reed Parry of Arcade Fire over a cold Montreal winter and features Montreal and Canada’s finest music makers. Released under the beautifully tattooed wing of Nashville-based roots/Americana label Muddy Roots Music Recordings. Benjamin Hermann is a songwriter and accompanist currently living in Toronto ON, working, performing, collaborating, and creating from this city as a launching pad. Originally from North Bay, ON, Ben has since lived in Whitehorse, YT, travelled through Germany and Russia, considering these Northern and Eastern places to be the source of his artistic considerations. Eventually Ben landed in Toronto where he came to study and continue his music career. The horror of the faces: That is the overwhelming image that remains from a recent viewing of the restored version of “M,” Fritz Lang’s famous 1931 film about a child murderer in Germany. In my memory it was a film that centered on the killer, the creepy little Franz Becker, played by Peter Lorre. But Becker has relatively limited screen time, and only one consequential speech–although it’s a haunting one. Most of the film is devoted to the search for Becker, by both the police and the underworld, and many of these scenes are played in closeup. Rhythms of Resistance Amsterdam (RoR Amsterdam) is part of the international Rhythms of Resistance network. We are a network of action samba bands playing for different kinds of socio-political causes. We actively criticize and confront any form of domination, exploitation, discrimination or oppression and choose tactical frivolity and/or other forms of creative protest as a way to express our rage and indignation.
This year we will be organising the yearly meeting of the entire action-samba network in Amsterdam! The week will be filled with frivolous, rhythmical, radical activities and workshops to strengthen the tactics of our international network. This meeting is very important for the network to cooperate on a trans-national scale and to provide support to struggles in different locations.

Can Dialectics Break Bricks Cinema: Charles, Dead or Alive
Sunday June 19th 2016, Can Dialectics Break Bricks Cinema: Charles, Dead or Alive (Charles mort ou vif). Directed by Alain Tanner, 1970, 93 minutes. In French with English subtitles. Door opens at 8pm, film begins at 9pm. Free admission.
The debut feature film by the great Swiss director Alain Tanner (Jonas will be 25 in the Year 2000, In the White City). Unseen for decades, this is an incredibly rare screening of this film about a businessman who becomes disillusioned with his lifestyle and throws his destiny to the wind to see where he ends up. In this film, Tanner already sets up the major theme that runs through all his films… describing the inner road and turmoil that anyone has to go through when they decide to break with society and follow their convictions uncompromisingly to the bitter end.
Although shot in Switzerland, the backdrop of the film is the volatile uprisings and demonstrations that were happening in France in 1968. This one is a forgotten gem that few people have had the chance to see in a cinema. Shot in a grainy and austere black and white, it’s a snapshot of the dynamic sociopolitical landscape of late 1960s Europe as the old world is hijacked and overtaken by modernization and American economic globalization. An extremely rare glimpse into the counter-culture movements of the 60s.
