Emirates (Arabic: طَيَران الإمارات DMG: Ṭayarān Al-Imārāt) is an airline based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The airline is a subsidiary of The Emirates Group, which is wholly owned by the government of Dubai's Investment Corporation of Dubai. It is the largest airline in the Middle East, operating over 3,300 flights per week from its hub at Dubai International Airport, to more than 148 cities in 78 countries across six continents. Cargo activities are undertaken by Emirates SkyCargo.
Emirates is the world’s third largest international carrier by scheduled passenger-kilometres flown, the seventh largest airline in the world in terms of revenue, and the largest airline in the Middle East in terms of revenue, fleet size, and passengers carried. The airline is also the fourth-largest airline in the world in terms of international passengers carried. Emirates plans to launch the longest non-stop commercial flight, from Dubai to Auckland, on March 1, 2016.
During the mid-1980s, Gulf Air began to cut back its services to Dubai. As a result, Emirates was conceived in March 1985 with backing from Dubai's royal family, with Pakistan International Airlines providing two of the airline's first aircraft on wet-lease. With $10 million in start-up capital it was required to operate independently of government subsidy. Pakistan International Airlines provided training facilities to Emirates' cabin crew in its academy. The airline was headed by Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the airline's present chairman. In the years following its founding, the airline expanded both its fleet and its destinations. In October 2008, Emirates moved all operations at Dubai International Airport to Terminal 3.
More than 220,000 passengers have flown the two-class A380 on over 450 flights since it first entered service in December 2015. The Emirates’ two class configured A380 features 58 flatbed seats in Business Class and 557 spacious seats in Economy Class, as well as Emirates’ popular OnBoard Lounge. Emirates has 4 two-class configured A380s in its fleet of 74 A380s.

Hi everyone! Good to see you made it to one of my reviews! Hope you get what you expected! This is the first review of 4 aboard Emirates Airlines in Business Class, whole trip was Zurich-Dubai-Seychelles and back! This video reviews the ZRH-DXB leg on the A380! The business class on Emirates A380 is one of the best out there, among Singapores and other premium carrier C classes. The seat is great and you get a lot of privacy, all seats have aisle access and are featured with several nice features, like the minibar or a great amount of touchscreens ;) But have a look yourself in the report! The crew of my flight was amazing, really cared for every passenger. I don't know how it was in economy but I had my personal FA who pampered me really good! :) The food was awesome too, very good qual...

Check my write up of this experience with exclusive photos at http://backpackerlee.wordpress.com/2013/11/08/flying-first-class-on-the-airbus-a380/ Also, where will Emirates fly their A380 next? I analyse the situation here: https://backpackerlee.wordpress.com/2014/12/04/where-next-for-the-emirates-a380/ An experience on Emirates First Class Suites between Bangkok and Hong Kong - including views of the Emirates Lounge at BKK. The first class cabin on this flight was virtually empty, only 5 of 16 suites occupied. Business Class was not even full. I could not get a good view out of the window, and it was very bumpy coming through the clouds with the descent into Hong Kong (sorry for a few shaky moments there). Recorded May 3, 2012.
