Bend Municipal Airport
Bend Municipal Airport (ICAO: KBDN, FAA LID: BDN) is a city-owned airport six miles northeast of Bend, in Deschutes County, Oregon. This airport is included in the FAA's National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2009–2013, which categorizes it as a general aviation facility. Bend is home to Cessna Aircraft (formerly Columbia Aircraft) and Epic Aircraft.
Commercial air traffic to Central Oregon uses Roberts Field in Redmond, Oregon, about 20 miles north of Bend.
Most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, but this airport is assigned BDN by the FAA and has no IATA code (which assigned BDN to Talhar Airport in Badin, Pakistan).
History
Covering about 415 acres (1.68 km2), Bend Municipal Airport traces its history back to 1942. A group of Bend citizens banded together to deed a small piece of farmland to the City of Bend for a municipal landing strip. The site was developed and used for pilot training through World War II. After the war the airstrip was maintained by the City of Bend for civil use; it slowly grew during the 1950s and 1960s.

We wanted to capture this train at multiple locations so we decided to take bus after capturing departure of this train.

The first stop of the tour showing the islands west side is a small fishing village. Sailors and fishermen have always been considered superstitious and faithful people, which is why they had their own chapels in a lot of ports.
This is a case in Camara De Lobos too. The walls of the chapel, Nossa Senhora da Conceição are decorated with paintings representing São Pedro, the patron saint of Portuguese sailors.
The port of Camara De Lobos is one of the most colorful places of the island. The fishing boats painted in strong colors are extremely characteristic of the sea coast of Portugal. Of all the places in the islands, you can see the largest number than here. They not only dance on the water, many of them are pulled up to the sand and repainted and repaired there.
Since the stormy wind often inhibits fisherman from taking the water, they while away their time with the maintenance of their riggings, the scratch or the barnacles, Mente nets and repair their long rods.
The most popular fish of Madeira Islands is the black swordfish, the Aspara. It's cut using the especially long rods. The huge animal with a cylinder like body lives in a depth of 2000 meters, but at night, in the expectation of prey, it comes up to 500 to 600 meters. Then, they're hooked using squid bait. The fish, glittering in all the colors of the rainbow, so comes to the bends before it ever reaches the surface. The low pressure does away with it. From this, also its color changes and by the time it gets to the counter at the fish market, its body is a shining black. Three thousand tons of these tasty creatures are cut every year. The especially long swords amounted unusually hang up on the walls of fish restaurants. In fact, the great deal with the fish is served right here while the others are sold to cold storage plants and packing houses.
The boats of the swordfish fishermen, the espaderos are open and also their form differs from the ships of fishermen fishing with trolls. In the ports, the skins of squids and dogfish can often be seen hanging out to dry.
The village of São Vicente, meaning Saint Vincent was given its name because the mother's bones were preserved here and then taken to the Portuguese capital city. Since that time, Saint Vincent has been the patron saint of Lisbon.
For those who are interested in geology, a geological excursion has been established in a 70 meter long lava cave and the Botanical Garden is home to practically all the plans which can be found on the Madeira Islands.
But the main sight is the Parish Church from the 17th century. On the black and white Musẻ pavement in front of the entrance, a sailboat and two ravens are visible. These ate the saint's attributes. Of course, the frescoes of the ceiling are decorated with images from the saint's life. The high altar is a carved wooden altar richly covered with gold leaf called Taja Dorado here.
Picturesque cobblestone streets, pretty cottages, and small shops are characteristic of the settlement. The locals observed the holiday of the Holy Ghost based on ancient traditions and beliefs. The custom, which was in fashion and continental Portugal in the days of King Dennis, was brought to the island by Zarco. A heavily living table awaited everyone at the celebration. The hearty meal was a responsibility of the king of Whitson Tide elected every year. Although the Catholic Church is prohibited this holiday, a lot of families observe it even today.
Porto Moniz, a small wine grower village was accessible almost only on foot until the middle of the 20th century. Excavation of the wining road into the rocks of the seaside began at that time. Although it's been widen in severed by a tunnel since then, it is not without dangers even now with its narrow bypasses and water falls which give passing cars a shower. On top of that, more and more tourist buses come here, bringing passengers who have booked to one day optional tour.
Since the restaurants of this place are famous for their excellent fresh sea food, the price of the tour includes a several course meal and local wines. A lot of Portuguese families have a holiday home here making it hard to find the table on the restaurant's terrace in the summer season.
