Dinesh Thakur (1947 – 20 September 2012) was a noted Indian theatre director, actor in theatre, television and Hindi film, where most notably he appeared as one of the leads in Rajnigandha 1974 and directed by Basu Chatterjee, which won both Filmfare Best Movie Award and the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Movie. He was the founder-director of ANK productions, a Mumbai-based theatre company, established in 1976.
Though he mainly appeared as character roles in Hindi films, as a screenwriter and story writer, he is known for writing the story and screenplay of Ghar (1978), which won him the 1979 Filmfare Best Story Award.
He died on 20 September 2012 due to kidney failure.
Dinesh Thakur did his graduation from Kirori Mal College (KMC), Delhi University, where was also part of the KMC dramatic society.
He made his film debut in 1971, with Mere Apne, written and directed by Gulzar, and followed it up with Basu Bhattacharya's Anubhav (1971), opening film of his trilogy of marital discord in urban settings, there after he also appeared the third film, Griha Pravesh (1979). 1974 saw him appearing in Basu Chatterjee's landmark in middle cinema, Rajnigandha (1974), alongside Amol Palekar and Vidya Sinha, which won the Filmfare Best Film Award, and went on appear in several films with both the directors in the coming years.

Plot: Curry Munchers follows the life of Sid (Aunanda Naaido), a mid-twenties boy who migrates to Auckland from Delhi, with his parents. He realizes that he is no longer as popular as he was in Delhi, and believes all he needs is a motor bike, like the one he had back home, to again catch the attention of girls. His parents (Ajay Vasisht and Leela Patel) want him to focus on his engineering studies, but Sid takes a part-time job at a struggling restaurant as a kitchen hand, without his parents knowledge, in order to buy the motorbike. His focus moves away from study towards the restaurant, new-found friends including the local girl Mary (Alison Titulaer). Then came along an opportunity to win the first ever 'Auckland Metro Cooking Competition', that changed his life forever. The struggle to keep all sides happy leads Sid to question who and what, is the most important in his new life.

Plot: Rearing roosters, maintaining them and using them for fights are a way of life and a matter of honor and lifeline to many people. In such a tenement, Pettaikaaran (Jayabalan) leads a very respectable life with his key aides Durai (Kishore) and Karuppu (Dhanush) along with others. His main adversary in hen fights is Rathinam, the police inspector. Pettaikaarar is known to have an impeccable track record of successes when it comes to fowl fights especially with Rathinam's. In an unexpected situation, Pettaikaaran challenges Rathinam to a fowl contest which witnesses Karuppu violating his mentor Pettaikaarar's word but emerging successfully with enviable proceeds. This results in the swelling of his status among his folks which plants the seeds of animosity in the minds of Pettaikaaran. What follows is an interesting and unexpected path with twists and turns highlighting on the way the multiple layers of human emotions with sense playing truant.

Plot: Desperate brain cancer-ridden Caucasian, George States, with only six months to live, decides to capture a male cobra with hopes of obtaining 'Nagmani' from the shape shifting Naga female. For reasons that remain obscure throughout the film this will not only cure his brain cancer but also make him immortal. He hires workers in the jungles of Natchi, Tamil Nadu, who witness the intimacy of the cobras, capture the male allowing the female to escape. George then holds the male cobra in a glass cage hoping that the female cobra will attempt a rescue, and he will then release it in exchange for the Nagamani. The region experiences horror and religious awakening after the enraged female cobra, with the image of its oppressor in its eyes, sheds its snake-skin and takes on a female human form, setting out on its deadly mission of tracking down and destroying her mate's oppressor, and whoever else gets in her way whether involved or not.

Plot: Honeymoon Travels is an off-beat drama weaving together the stories of 6 couples on their honeymoons on the same tourist bus. There are old-timers Nahid & Oscar on their second marriages, reflective and forgiving of live. Then there's the Gujrati couple Hitesh and Shilpa who can't get anywhere near each other without scrabbling, the super-compatible Parsi couple Aspi and Zara, and the oddball NRI husband Bunty with his desi, fun-loving wife Madhu. An uptight and insecure Bengali man, Partho, is very much in love with his beautiful, free-spirited wife Milly. And rounding off the sextet are the Kapoors, the Punjabi couple comprising of talkative Pinky and contemplative Vicky. The film starts off with the start of the bus journey, and a couple of red herrings, like Shilpa crying her eyes out at going on the honeymoon. Then there's an opinionated bus driver, and a mysterious motor-bike rider following the bus. And while everything looks lovey-dovey in the beginning, with familiarity and time, problems crop up. How each couple deals with their own specific problems is the rest of the film.

Plot: Thanks to a script stolen from assistant director Udayabhanu, Rajappan Thengummoodu becomes superstar Saroj Kumar overnight. Udayan is left heart-broken but fate comes in the form of Babykuttan who wants to produce a movie with Udayan in the director's seat. And when Superstar Saroj Kumar starts working in the film, things looked to be in the right track. But when the project nears completion, Saroj walks out from the project due to an ego clash with Udayan.
