Love Island

Love Island (originally Celebrity Love Island) is a daily British reality television programme. In the show, twelve single celebrities spent five weeks on an island in Fiji. Viewers would vote for the couple they would like to see in the "love shack" where the two would get to know one another better. In the first series, each week viewers voted celebrities off the island, but in the second, the inhabitants had the final say. The identities of those being kicked out were revealed in the elimination episodes. The prize for the final couple left standing was £50,000. The second series also featured the inhabitants having to cook and clean up after themselves to fight the appearance that they were just there for a free holiday.

It was originally presented by Patrick Kielty and Kelly Brook, with Fearne Cotton taking over as female host in the second series. It aired in the United Kingdom on ITV. The first series aired in the summer of 2005, and it was won by Jayne Middlemiss and Fran Cosgrave. The second series began in July 2006, dropping Celebrity from its name. It was won by Bianca Gascoigne and Calum Best.

Holland

Holland is a region and former province on the western coast of the Netherlands. The name Holland is also frequently used to informally refer to the whole of the country of the Netherlands. This usage is commonly accepted in other countries, but in the Netherlands and particularly in other regions of the country it could be found undesirable or even insulting.

From the 10th to the 16th century, Holland proper was a unified political region within the Holy Roman Empire as a county ruled by the Counts of Holland. By the 17th century, Holland had risen to become a maritime and economic power, dominating the other provinces of the newly independent Dutch Republic.

The area of the former County of Holland roughly coincides with the two current Dutch provinces of North Holland and South Holland, which together include the Netherlands' three largest cities: the capital city of Amsterdam; Rotterdam, home of Europe's largest port; and the seat of government of The Hague.

Loose Women

Loose Women is a British panel show that has been broadcast on ITV since 6 September 1999. The programme focuses on a panel of four female presenters, who interview celebrities, discuss their lives and discuss topical issues, ranging from daily politics and current affairs, to celebrity gossip.

Loose Women is part of the ITV daytime programming schedule, airing on weekdays from 12:30−1:30pm.

The programme has been simulcast in the Republic of Ireland on UTV Ireland since January 2015.

The panel comprises four women from various professions in the entertainment and journalism industries.

Carol McGiffin holds the record for the most appearances; she appeared in 1172 episodes between 2003 and 2013, followed by Andrea McLean, Coleen Nolan, Sherrie Hewson, Jane McDonald, Kaye Adams and Denise Welch respectively.

Series 1–3

Adams and Nadia Sawalha were the original anchors on the show. Sawalha left in 2002, after the birth of her first child; Adams kept the role for the first ten series until the end of 2006, when she left to go on maternity leave.

Great Britain

Great Britain, also known as Britain ⁱ/ˈbrɪ.tən/, is an island in the North Atlantic off the north-west coast of continental Europe. With an area of 209,331 km² (80,823 sq mi), it is the largest island in Europe and the ninth-largest in the world. In 2011 the island had a population of about 61 million people, making it the third-most populous island in the world, after Java in Indonesia and Honshu in Japan. It accounts for the majority of the British Isles archipelago, along with over 1,000 smaller surrounding islands, including the island of Ireland to its west.

The island is part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, constituting most of its territory: most of England, Scotland, and Wales are on the island, with their respective capital cities, London, Edinburgh, and Cardiff. Politically, the term Great Britain usually extends to include surrounding islands that form part of England, Scotland, and Wales.

A single Kingdom of Great Britain resulted from the Union of Scotland and England (which already comprised the present-day countries of England and Wales) in 1707. More than a hundred years before, in 1603, King James VI, King of Scots, had inherited the throne of England, but it was not until 1707 that the Parliaments of the two countries agreed to form a unified state. Subsequently, in 1801, Great Britain united with the neighbouring Kingdom of Ireland, forming the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. The state was renamed the "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" after five-sixths of Ireland seceded from the United Kingdom in 1922.

Miss Great Britain

Miss Great Britain is a female beauty contest. Miss Great Britain 2013 was organised by the new National Director Kate Solomons, director of Leicester-based model & event agency ModelZed Promotions Ltd. Kate became the National Director in November 2012 & has worked within the modelling and pageant industry for over 10 years having previously organised regional & national contests to put winners through to Miss England on behalf of Miss World.

One of Kate's first duties in her new role was to change the rules of the contest to allow both married women and mothers to enter the contest; this ruling had been revised in 2010 but had reverted under previous management. These rules currently stand for the 2014 contest.

First held in 1945, between 1956 and 1989, Miss Great Britain was held in the seaside resort of Morecambe. It is one of the oldest of its kind in the country.

Between 1951 and 1957, the winner of the Miss Great Britain crown would go on to compete at the Miss World pageant. This ended in 1958 when Miss World creator Eric Morley, unhappy at the results of the Miss Great Britain winners at Miss World ( all seven Miss GB winners that went to Miss World were unplaced ) set up his own domestic contest, the Miss United Kingdom pageant. From 1958 to the end of the 20th century, the winner of Miss UK would compete at Miss World.
