Yello is a Swiss electronic band consisting of Dieter Meier and Boris Blank. They are most famous for their 1985 single "Oh Yeah" which featured in the films Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Secret of My Success and K-9. And for The Race which peaked at number 7 on the UK Singles Chart.
The band was formed by Boris Blank (keyboards, sampling, percussion, backing vocals) and Carlos Perón (tapes) in the late 1970s. Dieter Meier (vocals, lyrics), a millionaire industrialist and gambler, was brought in when the two founders realised that they needed a singer. The new band name, Yello, was chosen as a pun based on a comment made by Meier, "a yelled Hello".
Yello's first release was the 1979 single "I.T. Splash". The LP Solid Pleasure, featuring the original short version of "Bostich" (extended to a hit dance single in 1981), was released in November 1980.
In 1983, Yello received substantial media attention with the release of "I Love You" and "Lost Again". Perón left the band in 1983 to start a solo career. With their 1983 album You Gotta Say Yes to Another Excess, the band began a working relationship with Ernst Gamper, whose "corner cut" logo would represent them for three albums, and who would design covers for the group beyond the demise of this logo.
Mart Poom (/ˌmɑːrt ˈpoʊm/; Estonian pronunciation: [ˈmɑrt ˈpoːm]; born 3 February 1972) is an Estonian former football goalkeeper. He retired after Estonia's 0–0 draw against Portugal on 10 June 2009 to focus on his job as goalkeeping coach at Arsenal and the Estonian national team.
Poom started his football career in the clubs Tallinna Lõvid ("Lions of Tallinn") and Flora Tallinn in his home country, before a brief stint at Finnish club KuPS and Swiss club Wil. In 1994, he moved to English club Portsmouth, but only played seven games and was loaned back to his former club Flora.
In 1997, Poom moved to Derby County, making his Premier League debut against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Poom became a fan favourite at Derby, with supporters often confusing unfamiliar commentators with a low chant of 'Pooooom' before games, which sounded like booing. Poom won the Jack Stamps Trophy (player of the year) at the end of the 99/00 season.
After Derby County's relegation to the First Division in the summer of 2002, Poom moved to Sunderland in November of that year. On 20 September 2003, he headed a 90th minute equaliser for Sunderland against his former club at Pride Park. This was described as "the best goal ever scored by a goalkeeper in the 90th minute on his first match against his former club" by the commentator. The goal was cheered by both sets of fans.
