Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales, is 1085m at its summit and has some of the best views in the UK which are reached using several well used paths. This was a walk we made up to the summit from Pen-y-Pass using the Pyg Track to ascend and the Miner's Track to come back down. We went up on the 25th May 2012 starting at about 9am, and got to the top at about 12.15pm. Weather was absolutely fantastic, no clouds, and the views were outstanding. However, I did get eaten alive by the midges which were crowding around the people at the summit. Will definitely be back to Snowdonia and Snowdon.

Crib Goch, Snowdon was the destination for a personal challenge for me to complete. Scared of heights all my life, I wanted to push my boundaries and set myself a meaningful challenge on my 31st Birthday. I came across video's like you on youtube and thought perfect - Crib Goch it is, it looks spectacular. As you can see from the video I got stage fright, but I completed the Crib Goch route which I'm really proud of - even if I looked like a wimp! Challenge yourself!

Shot from a GoPro camera fitted to a head mount, this video shows the walk along the knife edge ridge of Crib Goch as part of the ascent of Snowdon in Snowdonia, Wales. The ridge is about 500 metres long with substantial precipitous drops to either side. There was some wind during our crossing of the ridge but nothing too fierce, and we were lucky to have great views across the valleys on both sides.

Snowdon (Welsh: Yr Wyddfa, pronounced [əɾ ˈwɪðva]) is the highest mountain in Wales, at an altitude of 1,085 metres (3,560 ft) above sea level, and the highest point in the British Isles outside Scotland. It is located in Snowdonia National Park (Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri) in Gwynedd, and has been described as "probably the busiest mountain in Britain". It is designated as a national nature reserve for its rare flora and fauna.
The rocks that form Snowdon were produced by volcanoes in the Ordovician period, and the massif has been extensively sculpted by glaciation, forming the pyramidal peak of Snowdon and the arêtes of Crib Goch and Y Lliwedd. The cliff faces on Snowdon, including Clogwyn Du'r Arddu, are significant for rock climbing, and the mountain was used by Edmund Hillary in training for the 1953 ascent of Mount Everest.
Snowdon boasts some of the best views in Britain, and the summit can be reached by a number of well-known paths. The summit can also be reached on the Snowdon Mountain Railway, a rack and pinion railway opened in 1896 which carries passengers the 4.7 miles (7.6 km) from Llanberis to the summit station. The summit also houses a visitor centre called Hafod Eryri, built in 2006 to replace one built in the 1930s.

An entertaining insight into our trek across the infamous Crib Goch of Mt. Snowdon, Wales. With music to suit all tastes, combined to suit nobodies taste. -
Snowdon Walk - Pyg Track / Miner's Track - Snowdonia
Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales, is 1085m at its summit and has some of the best views in the UK which are reached using several well used paths. This was a walk we made up to the summit from Pen-y-Pass using the Pyg Track to ascend and the Miner's Track to come back down. We went up on the 25th May 2012 starting at about 9am, and got to the top at about 12.15pm. Weather was absolutely fantastic, no clouds, and the views were outstanding. However, I did get eaten alive by the midges which were crowding around the people at the summit. Will definitely be back to Snowdonia and Snowdon. Scared of heights all my life, I wanted to push my boundaries and set myself a meaningful challenge on my 31st Birthday. I came across video's like you on youtube and thought perfect - Crib Goch it is, it looks spectacular. As you can see from the video I got stage fright, but I completed the Crib Goch route which I'm really proud of - even if I looked like a wimp! Challenge yourself! -

Crib Goch knife edge ridge walk by Snowdon, Wales
Shot from a GoPro camera fitted to a head mount, this video shows the walk along the knife edge ridge of Crib Goch as part of the ascent of Snowdon in Snowdonia, Wales. The ridge is about 500 metres long with substantial precipitous drops to either side. There was some wind during our crossing of the ridge but nothing too fierce, and we were lucky to have great views across the valleys on both sides. -

Shot from a GoPro camera fitted to a head mount, this video shows the walk along the knife edge ridge of Crib Goch as part of the ascent of Snowdon in Snowdonia, Wales. The ridge is about 500 metres long with substantial precipitous drops to either side. There was some wind during our crossing of the ridge but nothing too fierce, and we were lucky to have great views across the valleys on both sides.
