Kanye West hails Bon Iver's Justin Vernon as his "favourite living artist"

Kanye West has revealed that Bon Iver's Justin Vernon is his "favourite living artist".
The rapper gave a rare interview last night (August 1) to BBC Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac that spanned a range of topics, ranging from why he still wants to run for President in 2020 to how his Glastonbury 2015 headline set put him in a "slightly depressed state."
Referring to that Glastonbury performance where Vernon was a guest performer, West said: "I go out and perform 'Hold My Liquor' [from West's 2013 album 'Yeezus'] with Justin Vernon, who is my favourite living artist - I love Justin the way Kanye loves Kanye. So he's got this machine and this little sampler that he uses, and when he gets up there next to me and we're doing 'Hold My Liquor', and I completely forgot the lyrics, we just go off the rails and have a moment of feeling like we're back in the studio, or feeling like we're back in high school."
West then praised Vernon's recent collaboration with Francis and the Lights, 'Friends', as "my favourite song of the year." West has a small feature on the song, as well as having a cameo in its accompanying video.
He also found time during the interview with Mac to praise Nirvana's Kurt Cobain, citing him as an influence on his own live performances. "Any time you think about performance, I think about Kurt Cobain's last performances. And I'm not saying this to do a comparison," he said, before the quality of the phone call unfortunately made his next line about "the rock crowd"'s reaction to him making that comparison unintelligible.

Last night, West hinted that he and Drake may be working on a collaborative album together.
The Canadian rapper brought West out as a special guest at the former's OVO Fest in Toronto, and during his stint on stage West asked the audience "Is y’all ready for this album?" He then added: "I wasn't talking about 'The Life Of Pablo'. I wasn't talking about 'Views'. I wanna ask y’all right now: Are y’all ready for this album?", before gesturing to himself and Drake.
