Whilst on holiday to Cornwall in 2005 (approx) I visited Goonhilly Earth Station and videoed the tour. Apologies for missing segments, I did not film it all. The visitor centre at Goonhilly is now closed and there is no public access to the site.

Ground station
A ground station, earth station, or earth terminal is a terrestrial radio station designed for extraplanetary telecommunication with spacecraft (constituting part of the ground segment of the spacecraft system), or reception of radio waves from astronomical radio sources. Ground stations may be located either on the surface of the Earth, or in its atmosphere. Earth stations communicate with spacecraft by transmitting and receiving radio waves in the super high frequency or extremely high frequency bands (e.g., microwaves). When a ground station successfully transmits radio waves to a spacecraft (or vice versa), it establishes a telecommunications link. A principal telecommunications device of the ground station is the parabolic antenna.
Ground stations may have either a fixed or itinerant position. Article 1 § III of the ITU Radio Regulations describes various types of stationary and mobile ground stations, and their interrelationships.
Specialized satellite earth stations are used to telecommunicate with satellites—chiefly communications satellites. Other ground stations communicate with manned space stations or unmanned space probes. A ground station that primarily receives telemetry data, or that follows a satellite not in geostationary orbit, is called a tracking station.

Skybrokers (http://www.sky-brokers.com) delivered and installed a refurbished Vertex 11m C-band Earth Station Antenna in Vilnius, Lithuania with a three member installation team. This project took three weeks in March & April 2014. The antenna was checked out and refurbished at our facility before installation and was installed and aligned successfully. Please do not hesitate to contact us for any inquiry for satellite related equipment. We provide new and used satellite equipment for Teleports, Satellite Providers, Telecom Operators, Broadcasters and SNG Operators etc. We can provide de- and re-installation services as well as maintenance and repair/refurbishment of your earth station antennas where ever you are located. The ISS passes into the dark side of the earth for roughly half of each of its 90 minute orbits. As the Space Station passes into a period of night every 45 mins video is unavailable - during this time, and other breaks in transmission recorded footage is shown when back in daylight earth will recommence.

The Blue Marble is a photograph of the Earth, taken on December 7, 1972, by the crew of the Apollo 17 spacecraft, at a distance of about 45,000 kilometers (28,000 miles). It is one of the most reproduced images in human history.[1][2]
The image with the official NASA designation AS17-148-22727 reproduces the view of the Earth as seen by the Apollo crew traveling toward the Moon. The translunar coast photograph extends from the Mediterranean Sea to Antarctica. This was the first time the Apollo trajectory made it possible to photograph the south polar ice cap with the Southern Hemisphere heavily covered in clouds. Almost the entire coastline of Africa is clearly visible and the Arabian Peninsula can be seen at the northeastern edge of Africa. The large island off the coast of Africa is Madagascar. The Asian mainland is on the horizon toward the northeast.
The name has also been applied by NASA to a 2012 series of image data sets covering the entire globe at relatively high resolution, created by carefully sifting through satellite-captured sequences taken over time, to eliminate as much cloud cover as possible from the collated set of images.

ENGLISH SUBTITLES/CC AVAILABLE FOR HEARING IMPAIRED A Post Office Film Unit production for Post Office External Telecommunications Executive. The film promotes international telephone calls and data services. The film dates from around 1979 and this copy is the original version of the film. It details the work of Goonhilly Earth Station in Cornwall which was closed by BT in 2008. In the 1980s, the successor company, British Telecom, created an updated version of this production, which is available on the the BT Heritage website. This is a new transfer of an original faded 16mm print. Some colour correction has been applied to remove the red cast. The copyright in this film belongs to BT Group.

The 'sugar scoop' antenna became operational on 29 October 1966 when Intelsat-2A, the first of the three satellites launched, gave OTC and the ABC a brief chance to test satellite TV communications as the satellite drifted to ignominious failure over the Indian Ocean. On 24 November 1966, test patterns for the first-ever live telecasts from Australia to England were successful. The next day, a live BBC television broadcast from a studio in London featured interviews linking UK families with their British migrant relatives standing in Robinson Street, Carnarvon.
This video highlights some of the projects OTC Carnarvon was involved with and how it had become an intricate of Carnarvon. This video also mentions the "winding down of operations" as the OTC station closed in 1987. The site is still 'actively' involved in solar scientific research, hosting a node of the Birmingham Solar Oscillations Network.
The Carnarvon Space and Technology Museum opened in 2012.

During the overview, Sunita explains the station's structure which is divided into two pressurized modules sections, the Russian Orbital Segment (ROS) and the United States Orbital Segment (USOS), which is shared by many nations but funded by NASA until 2024. Roscosmos (РоÑ?коÑ?моÑ?), the governmental body responsible for the space science program in Russia and general aerospace research, has endorsed the continued operation of ISS through 2024, but has proposed using elements of the Russian Orbital Segment to construct a new Russian space station called OPSEK. The ESA (European Space Agency) also uses the ISS for research and experiments.
The ISS maintains an orbit with an altitude of between 330 and 435 km (205 and 270 mi) by means of re-boost maneuvers using the engines of the Zvezda module or visiting spacecraft. It completes 15.54 orbits around the earth per day.
Sunita Lyn "Suni" Williams (born September 19, 1965) is an American NASA astronaut officer of Indian-Slovenian descent and holds the records for total spacewalks by a woman (seven) and most spacewalk time for a woman (50 hours, 40 minutes). Williams was assigned to the International Space Station as a member of Expedition 14 and Expedition 15. In 2012, she served as a flight engineer on Expedition 32 and then commander of Expedition 33.
Space translated into Hindi and Slovenian is अंतरिक�ष and vesolje respectively.
