Environment variable
Environment variables are a set of dynamic named values that can affect the way running processes will behave on a computer.
They are part of the environment in which a process runs. For example, a running process can query the value of the TEMP environment variable to discover a suitable location to store temporary files, or the HOME or USERPROFILE variable to find the directory structure owned by the user running the process.
They were introduced in their modern form in 1979 with Version 7 Unix, so are included in all Unix operating system flavors and variants from that point onward including Linux and OS X. From PC DOS 2.0 in 1982, all succeeding Microsoft operating systems including Microsoft Windows, and OS/2 also have included them as a feature, although with somewhat different syntax, usage and standard variable names.
Details
In all Unix and Unix-like systems, each process has its own separate set of environment variables. By default, when a process is created, it inherits a duplicate environment of its parent process, except for explicit changes made by the parent when it creates the child. At the API level, these changes must be done between running fork and exec. Alternatively, from command shells such as bash, a user can change environment variables for a particular command invocation by indirectly invoking it via env or using the ENVIRONMENT_VARIABLE=VALUE <command> notation. All Unix operating system flavors, DOS, and Windows have environment variables; however, they do not all use the same variable names. A running program can access the values of environment variables for configuration purposes.

Station (New Zealand agriculture)
A station, in the context of New Zealand agriculture, is a large farm dedicated to the grazing of sheep and cattle. The use of the word for the farm or farm buildings date back to the mid-nineteenth century. The owner of a station is called a runholder.
Some of the stations in the South Island have been subject to the voluntary tenure review process. As part of this process the government has been buying out all or part of the leases. Poplars Station in the Lewis Pass area was purchased in part by the government in 2003. The Nature Heritage Fund was used to purchase 4000 ha for $1.89 million. Birchwood Station was bought in 2005 to form part of the Ahuriri Conservation ParkSt James Station was purchased by the Government in 2008.

Fruitvale Station
Fruitvale Station is a 2013 American biographical drama film written and directed by Ryan Coogler. It is Coogler's first feature-length film and is based on the events leading to the death of Oscar Grant, a young man who was killed in 2009 by BART police officer Johannes Mehserle at the Fruitvale Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Station in Oakland, California.
The film stars Michael B. Jordan as Oscar Grant. Forest Whitaker is one of the film's producers.Kevin Durand and Chad Michael Murray play the two BART police officers involved in Grant's death. The names of the officers were changed for the film.
Fruitvale Station debuted at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award for U.S. dramatic film. It was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival where it won the award for Best First Film. The film was released in theaters July 12, 2013. It received critical acclaim upon its release and earned other awards.

Fruitvale (BART station)
Fruitvale is a Bay Area Rapid Transit station located in the Fruitvale District of Oakland. The station consists of two elevated side platforms with the concourse mezzanine at ground level. The redevelopment of the immediate station area from a parking lot to a mixed-use "transit village" has served as a model for transit-oriented development planning elsewhere in the Bay Area. Service at this station began on September 11, 1972.
Alameda Bicycle operates a bike station here.
Station layout
BART Police shooting of Oscar Grant
On January 1, 2009, BART police officer Johannes Mehserle shot and killed Oscar Grant III at the Fruitvale BART station. At around 2:15 a.m. PST, BART Police were responding to reports of a fight on a BART train inbound from San Francisco. Grant was face down on the platform, but Mehserle later said that he couldn't get Grant's arms and feared that he was reaching inside his waistband. Mehserle drew his service weapon (later saying that he had intended to use his Taser weapon) and shot him in the back. Grant died seven hours later at Highland Hospital in Oakland. Video recorded by other riders at the scene were later aired on local television. In 2013 a movie was made about this incident, filmed on location, titled Fruitvale Station.

In this tutorial, you will learn how to set environment variables in windows.
Operating systems require environment variables as settings and configurations for several processes. Although these variables are automatically defined or initialized during the installation of the system or specific software, in windows, to set environment variables manually is not a difficult task. That's because windows allows us to manually add, remove or edit environment variables through system settings according to our requirements.
Step # 1 -- Opening environment variables
In windows, to set environmental variables, you can take two paths. Either we can go to control panel, then access the system security option, and then the system option. Or we can simply right click on My Computer and select its properties.
Once we are in the system window, select the advanced system settings from the list on the left side. A new window will pop up. Over here, click on the environment variables button near the bottom of this window and you can now access the Windows environment variables.
Step # 2 -- Adding a variable
In this window there are two sets of environment variables, one is the "user variables", and the other is the "system variables". Choose the new button in the user variables section to open the "define a new variable" dialog window.
Over here, you will be required to define the variable name as anything you wish to set, such as temporary and then define its value as the path to the directory. With that done, let's complete this process by pressing OK. Your new environment variable has been created now.
Step # 3 -- Editing and removing a variable
To edit an environment variable, click on it, and then click on the edit button to open a dialog window. Here we can edit the name and value of the variable. Likewise to remove an environment variable, simply click on the variable and then click on the delete button.
Once all the definitions are complete, close the window and restart your computer to allow the operating system to load these settings on boot.

In this tutorial, I share how to add to the PATH environment variable in Windows 10. For this example, I'm adding Python 3 to the PATH so that I may begin writing code (and executing it) using Python 3 as I had forgotten to add Python to the PATH when I installed it.
The method shared in this video can be used regardless of what you're adding to your PATH in Windows 10.
To add a directory to the PATH environment variable on Windows 10, you can follow these steps:
Right-click on the Start button and select "System" from the context menu.
In the System Properties window, click on the "Advanced" tab.
Click on the "Environment Variables" button at the bottom of the window.
Under "System Variables", scroll down and find the "Path" variable, and click on the "Edit" button.
In the Edit Environment Variable window, click on the "New" button and enter the path of the directory you want to add. Press ok.
Click on "OK" to close the Edit Environment Variable window, then "OK" again to close the Environment Variables window.
Click "OK" to close the System Properties window.
You may need to reboot your computer for the changes to take effect.
Alternatively, you can also use the command line to edit the PATH variable by running the following command:
setx PATH "%PATH%;C:\path\to\directory"
Edit "C:\path\to\directory" to be the path of the directory you want to add to the PATH variable.

In this tutorial, you will learn how to set environment variables in windows.
Operating systems require environment variables as settings and configurations for several processes. Although these variables are automatically defined or initialized during the installation of the system or specific software, in windows, to set environment variables manually is not a difficult task. That's because windows allows us to manually add, remove or edit environment variables through system settings according to our requirements.
Step # 1 -- Opening environment variables
In windows, to set environmental variables, you can take two paths. Either we can go to control panel, then access the system security option, and then the system option. Or we can simply right click on My Computer and select its properties.
Once we are in the system window, select the advanced system settings from the list on the left side. A new window will pop up. Over here, click on the environment variables button near the bottom of this window and you can now access the Windows environment variables.
Step # 2 -- Adding a variable
In this window there are two sets of environment variables, one is the "user variables", and the other is the "system variables". Choose the new button in the user variables section to open the "define a new variable" dialog window.
Over here, you will be required to define the variable name as anything you wish to set, such as temporary and then define its value as the path to the directory. With that done, let's complete this process by pressing OK. Your new environment variable has been created now.
Step # 3 -- Editing and removing a variable
To edit an environment variable, click on it, and then click on the edit button to open a dialog window. Here we can edit the name and value of the variable. Likewise to remove an environment variable, simply click on the variable and then click on the delete button.
Once all the definitions are complete, close the window and restart your computer to allow the operating system to load these settings on boot.
And that's basically all you need to know for how to set environment variables in windows.

In this tutorial, I share how to add to the PATH environment variable in Windows 10. For this example, I'm adding Python 3 to the PATH so that I may begin writing code (and executing it) using Python 3 as I had forgotten to add Python to the PATH when I installed it.
The method shared in this video can be used regardless of what you're adding to your PATH in Windows 10.
To add a directory to the PATH environment variable on Windows 10, you can follow these steps:
Right-click on the Start button and select "System" from the context menu.
In the System Properties window, click on the "Advanced" tab.
Click on the "Environment Variables" button at the bottom of the window.
Under "System Variables", scroll down and find the "Path" variable, and click on the "Edit" button.
In the Edit Environment Variable window, click on the "New" button and enter the path of the directory you want to add. Press ok.
Click on "OK" to close the Edit Environment Variable window, then "OK" again to close the Environment Variables window.
Click "OK" to close the System Properties window.
You may need to reboot your computer for the changes to take effect.
Alternatively, you can also use the command line to edit the PATH variable by running the following command:
setx PATH "%PATH%;C:\path\to\directory"
Edit "C:\path\to\directory" to be the path of the directory you want to add to the PATH variable.
