The SA80 (Small Arms for the 1980s) is a British family of 5.56×45mm NATO small arms. It is a selective fire, gas-operated assault rifle. Mechanically, it has been derived from the Armalite AR-18, which had been manufactured under license in the UK by Sterling Armaments Company. Elements of its design, in particular the bullpup configuration, were inspired by the earlier EM-2 rifle. The first prototypes were tried in 1976, and production ended in 1994. It is due to remain in service until 2025.
The L85 rifle variant of the SA80 family has been the standard issue service rifle of the British Armed Forces since 1987, replacing the L1A1 variant of the FN FAL. The improved L85A2 remains in service today. The remainder of the family comprises the L86 Light Support Weapon, the short-barrelled L22 carbine and the L98 Cadet rifle.
The SA80 was the last in a long line of British weapons (including the Lee–Enfield family) to come from the Royal Small Arms Factory, the national arms development and production facility at Enfield Lock.

I made a big deal about the reloading however, its not that hard especially if the weapon had a foregrip, I was simply showing worst case scenario loading issues. Also yes I know its a SUSAT sight but when a million people are gonna watch something you simplify things, everyone is familiar with acog sights. It still looks like a donkey dick though haha. I have a ton of respect for our mates across the pond, the British Armed forces who use the SA80 or L85 main battle rifle. For the last four decades the UK infantry used a bullpup design. I know there is a lot of distrust out there within the military weapons community when it comes to the bullpup design compared to conventional firearms. My guess is, a lot of that actually comes directly from British soldiers, not so great experience on the ground with this rifle. I want to get to the bottom of if the incredible amount of hate for this weapon is justified or not. In order to do that we’ll have to get into British Army doctrine with the bullpup rifle. In 1995, after extensive public scandal from the L85A1's shortcomings being blatantly exposed in the first Gulf War, Heckler & Koch was given a contract to retrofit the rifles. At the time H&K; was owned by British Aerospace, so this remained an arguably British program. The H&K; retrofit consisted largely of subtle changes to mat...
The L85A3 is a further upgraded variant of the L85A2 assault rifle, which is currently a standard-issue infantry weapon with the British Forces. It looks like it was developed as a part of future soldier program. A prototype of the L85A3 was first publicly revealed in 2016. It is a proposed upgrade for existing L85A2 rifles. The main goal was to extend service life of this weapon until 2025 and beyond. Despite all shortcomings of the L85 design, the British Forces are still using these weapons. The L85A3 is a gas-operated, selective-fire weapon with a bullpup layout. The main advantage of the such layout is the overall compactness of the weapon. This assault rifle is chambered for the standard NATO 5.56x45 mm round. Internally this weapon is generally similar to the US Armalite AR-18. ...
I went down a bit of a rabbit hole with this video. After spotting an L85A1 with an ad hoc front grip in some footage from the Gulf War I did some digging. There's a rich history of British soldiers fashioning home made foregrips so we take a look at a few of those too. British L85 Rifle otherwise known as the SA80 has been given a rough time in its time and its time to start standing up for this great service rifle for what it REALLY is. The truth about this rifle is shrouded by a past that it never seems to shake off and I want to try explain why I think this firearm performs great. [Mr. 3-2]
Now playas, still don't sweat these hoes
Spitting conversation, while I ride deuce-4's
You know's how I do, I get paid off a trick
Changed my name from Mr. 3-2, to Pimp Chris
I ain't ya suga daddy, like Willie Fu-Fu
2003, girls got on they choosing shoes
Keep my pockets paid, my Harley got sprayed
They breaking they toes, to keep daddy living laid
Playa made, from the bottom to the top
Making boys drop out, 'fore them panties drop
I hopped in this pimping, cause girls love a playa
Do anything I say, and come back with that thay-ar
With no problem, or harassment at all
That's why when I'm in the mall, we all gon ball
Gucci for them, and a mink for me
Baby playas get chose, it ain't hard to see
[Hook x2]
[Lil' O]
I don't grab they arms, I don't pinch they ass
These hoes know, when they see a young nigga with cash
Cleaner than a motherfucker, like I just took a bath
So when these hoes walk by, how the fuck can they pass
A nigga like me up, she know that it's real
Plus I'm from Big Ballin' Texas, she know that I'm trill
And she heard that I can fuck, she wanna know how it feel
I'ma take her to me bedroom, and show her my skills
Cause I'm a playa that get chose, it's my call of duty
And I wage war with cot, and I brawl with booty
And this message goes out to, all my cuties
That I done beat the pussy up, and put all them movies
Had the time of your life, girl your nigga's a G
And you always gon call me, cause your nigga's a flea
And everytime you go to sleep, boo you dreaming bout me
Cause deep down I'm everything, you want your nigga to be
A gangsta a gentleman, plus I talk with class
But I'll still bend you over, and walts that ass
Pull your perm acting out, once I'm talking trash
Like baby who pussy this, pop-pop that ass
[Hook x2]
[H.A.W.K.]
Everything's, still lovely
I'm on drank, I done chilled off the Bubbly
Niggaz mad, cause they hoes wanna fuck me
But these boys, these boys they bet not touch me if you ugly
Boys wondering why, they hoes be fiending
Cause they done licked on my nuts, and swallowed my semen
Hoes be dreaming, of having sex with me
And these jealous ass niggaz, got plex with me
See girls get full of that, extasy
And they all wanna fuck me, O and 3
Since I'm the H-A-W-K, I'm doing things my way
