Golden Boy Promotions, Inc. is a boxing promotional firm started by former boxer 10-time world champion in six weight divisions Oscar De La Hoya (whose nickname is The Golden Boy). De La Hoya owns a majority interest in the firm, and his partners in the venture include fellow boxers Bernard Hopkins, Joseph Ochoa, and Ricky Hatton among others.

Los Angeles-based Golden Boy Promotions was established in 2002 by Oscar De La Hoya, the first Hispanic to own a national boxing promotional company. In 2006, their fifth year of promoting, Golden Boy Promotions broke a record by selling over 2 million in pay-per-views. Golden Boy Promotions is also one of boxing's most active and respected promoters, presenting shows in packed venues around the United States on networks such as HBO, HBO Latino, Showtime, Telefutura, and ESPN. They present the monthly boxing series Fight Night Club sponsored by DeWalt Tools, in association with AEG. It is held at the Club Nokia in Los Angeles and televised live on Fox Sports Net and others. Golden Boy Promotions also co promotes fight cards with other boxing promoters/companies i.e. Bob Arum's Top Rank, Main Events, Gary Shaw Productions, Lou Dibella, Murad Mohammad, etc. Golden Boy Enterprises has a diverse portfolio of investments including ownership in several Spanish-language newspapers in major markets throughout the U.S., and select investments in a number of consumer products. The company continues to seek additional business investments and opportunities that fit with its mission. Golden Boy Enterprises also holds a majority interest in Golden Boy Promotions. The company holds a 25% interest in the Houston Dynamo soccer team. It also acquired The Ring magazine. The promotion produces bi monthly boxing cards on Estrella TV.

Oscar De La Hoya

Oscar De La Hoya (born February 4, 1973) is a Mexican American former professional boxer. Nicknamed "The Golden Boy", De La Hoya won a gold medal at the 1992 Olympics shortly after graduating from James A. Garfield High School.

He was born in Los Angeles, California, and comes from a boxing family. His grandfather Vicente, father Joel Sr. and brother Joel Jr. were all boxers. De La Hoya was The Ring magazine's "Fighter of the Year" in 1995, and their top-rated pound for pound fighter in the world in 1997 and 1998. De La Hoya officially announced his retirement in 2009, after a professional career spanning sixteen years.

As a professional, De La Hoya defeated 17 world champions and won ten world titles in six different weight classes. He has also generated approximately $700 million in pay-per-view income making him the top pay-per-view earner before being surpassed by Floyd Mayweather. In 2002, he founded Golden Boy Promotions, a combat sport promotional firm. He is the first American of Mexican descent to own a national boxing promotional firm and one of the few boxers to take on promotional responsibilities while still active.
