Algiers — The workshop on translation of the basic statutes of the State to Tamazight language, organized by the High Council of Amazighity (HCA), started Sunday, in Algiers, in the presence of Minister of Communication Hamid Grine, the secretary-general of the HCA, Si El Hachemi Assad, and the general manager of Algeria Press Service (APS), Abdelhamid Kacha.

The workshop, being held at APS headquarters, as a continuation of a first stage devoted to the translation of the Constitution to Tamazight in February 2016.

The participants in the workshop will listen to reading launching the audio recording of three basic documents, namely the Constitution of 2016, the Declaration of 1 November 1954 and the Platform of Soummam Congress of 20 August 1956.

The translation of those documents is meant to be a "contribution to the implementation of the provisions of the Constitution, revised in February 2016," the HCA said.

It is also "intended to boost patriotism as well as social and cultural harmony, in all its forms."

The Constitution amended in February 2016 is available in Tamazight since last May, in both paper and digital forms.

It was translated by the High Council of Amazighity.
