Remember this one? Gil Gerard in International Airport back in 1985. Actually pretty good considering 1985 TV movie standards. Good sub-plots, George Kennedy as usual, but not Petroni... Rudy this time. Terrible special effects, but overall watchable blast from the past. Classic aviation drama in the mid 80's. Commercials included - The car commercials are a trip, aren't they??

Navi Mumbai International Airport is a proposed greenfield international airport, to be built in the Kopra-Panvel area of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) is the nodal agency for the project which will be built through public–private partnership (PPP) on a 'design, build, finance, operate and transfer' (DBFOT) basis.
The airport project, aimed at easing air traffic congestion at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, has been delayed due to property disputes. The project, spread over 1,160 hectares, still has 247 hectares left to be acquired that is being negotiated between the government and the project affected people (PAP) from five villages. They are yet to accept the government's compensation. CIDCO, however, floated a global request for qualification (RFQ) for the project on 5 February 2014. The private sector partner will hold 74% equity in the airport while the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and CIDCO each holding 13%.

In many smaller countries most airports are international airports, so the concept of an "international airport" has little meaning. In certain countries however, there is a sub-category of limited international airports which handle international flights, but are limited to short-haul destinations (often due to geographical factors) or are mixed civilian/military airports.[citation needed]
Many airports with regularly scheduled international service have the word "International" in their official names, but others, including such major airports as London Heathrow Airport, Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, Frankfurt Airport, Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport and George Bush Intercontinental Airport do not. Conversely, some airports which call themselves international airports, especially in smaller United States cities, in fact have no scheduled international airline passenger service but do have customs and immigration facilities serving charter, cargo and general aviation flights. At many of these airports customs and immigration services are only available with several hours advance notice. One example of such an airport is Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids, Michigan. A few, such as Gary/Chicago International Airport in Gary, Indiana, are in fact not international airports at all; they are not designated as airports of entry but aspire to become such in the future and added "international airport" to their names as a marketing tool.[citation needed]

The airport project, aimed at easing air traffic congestion at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, has been delayed due to property disputes. The project, spread over 1,160 hectares, still has 247 hectares left to be acquired that is being negotiated between the government and the project affected people (PAP) from five villages. They are yet to accept the government's compensation. CIDCO, however, floated a global request for qualification (RFQ) for the project on 5 February 2014. The private sector partner will hold 74% equity in the airport while the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and CIDCO each holding 13%.

The project has a target end date of 2026,... and the goal is to raise airport capacity to 38 million passengers annually,... from the 12 million recorded in 2015.
The timeline was announced Wednesday morning at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn.
Several related ministers were in attendance, including the land minister, who vowed to upgrade the related transport systems,... including more roads and rail lines... to improve accessibility.
The decision follows years of fierce debate involving two candidate regions,... with each one campaigning to locate the new airport in their area.
The ruling party had groups promoting the different candidate locations, but offered its support for the decision,.. while the opposition was more critical.
"The government's decision was a very difficult one to make,... but it was also a reasonable one. Our party accepts the announcement from a broader perspective."
"I believe now is the time when the government and political parties should stop making empty promises that can cause regional conflicts."
The airport upgrade plan beat out proposals to build a new, second airport in one of two candidate locations -- Busan's Gadeok Island and the inland city of Miryang in Gyeongsangnam-do province.
The decision was based on a year-long government feasibility study.

For so long I have dreamed of visiting the iconic planespotting locations of the United States and the world. Many years I worked and waited until the day when I could make my own videos and experience for myself what I had watched on YouTube month after month. A little slice of that is here and now as I journeyed south to visit the famous Renaissance Concourse Atlanta Airport Hotel. In the United States, Bisbee-Douglas International Airport terminal in Arizona became the initial global airport terminal of the Americas in 1928.
