Joan Cusack (/ˈkjuːsæk/, born October 11, 1962) is an American actress. She received Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress for her roles in the romantic comedy-drama Working Girl (1988) and the romantic comedy In & Out (1997) as well as one Golden Globe nomination for her performance in the latter. She has appeared in other films such as the romantic comedy-drama Broadcast News (1987), the comedies Stars and Bars and Married to the Mob (both 1988), the romantic comedy-drama Say Anything... (1989), the dark comedy Addams Family Values (1993), romantic comedy Nine Months (1995), the mystery thriller film Arlington Road (1999), the romantic comedy Runaway Bride (1999), the music-themed comedy School of Rock (2003), and the computer-animated comedy adventure film Toy Story 2 (1999) and Toy Story 3 (2010). She is also the narrator of the children's television series Peep and the Big Wide World (2004–2011).
Cusack was a cast member on the sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live from 1985 to 1986. Cusack currently stars on the Showtime hit drama/comedy Shameless as Sheila Jackson, a role for which she has received five consecutive Emmy Award nominations, winning for the first time in 2015. She is the sister of actors Ann and John Cusack.
