Voice (jazz)

Voice is a jazz quintet from South Africa.

Voice has released two recordings on Sheer Sound. Their second album, Songs for Our Grandchildren, was nominated for Best Traditional Jazz Release for the 2003-2004 South African Music Awards. They played as a featured group at the 2005 Cape Town International Jazz Festival.

Voice (trade union)

Voice 'The union for education professionals' (formerly The Professional Association of Teachers) is an independent British Trade Union for teachers, lecturers and other education and childcare workers in British education. The union is committed to the principle of not striking or engaging in "any kind of industrial action" "in any circumstances."

History

Voice was founded, as the Professional Association of Teachers, in 1970 by two Essex teachers Colin Leicester and Ray Bryant. Subsequently, in February 2008, Professional Association of Teachers became Voice: the union for education professionals.

Affiliated bodies

The Professional Association of Nursery Nurses (PANN) was established, in 1982, by a group of nursery nurses, who also wished to commit themselves to the principle of not striking. They became a section of PAT on 1 September 1995.

The Professionals Allied to Teaching (PAtT) section was launched in 2000. NAASSC (National Association of Administrative Staff in Schools and Colleges) was affiliated to PAT/PAtT in 2001.

Next is the second album by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band. The album was released in 1973. It was released separately on CD, though it is widely available on a 2 in 1 album, the other album being their debut album Framed.

"Swampsnake" was covered by American rock band Zilch on their 1998 debut album 3.2.1..

"The Faith Healer" was covered by Australian psychedelic rock band The Church on their 1999 covers album A Box of Birds.

Next Magazine is a weekly gay lifestyle magazine published in New York City by Multimedia Platforms, Inc. It addresses topics of fashion, life, entertainment, sex, and LGBT culture news, and is distributed freely in gay bars and other locations throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, Long Island, and New Jersey.

On July 1, 2009, Next Magazine became the only free local glossy gay night life publication in New York City, following the closure of longtime rival The New York Blade.

History

The first issue of Next Magazine "hit the streets of New York" on July 23, 1993. It was founded by co-publishers David Moyal and nightlife promoter John Blair in response to the gay sexual revolution happening in and around the West Village and Chelsea neighborhoods of Manhattan. Their first offices were located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 20th Street.

The need for an all-gay publication rose in the early 1990s when the LGBT community began having a political voice. Manhattan’s megaclubs were beginning to grow and gain notoriety, heavy drug use became commonplace in the gay community, and the AIDS epidemic was spreading rapidly. After the March on Washington and the election of Rudy Giuliani, the gay community (more specifically gay men) was in need of an open publication that catered to their needs.

Thriller (Lambchop album)

Thriller is the third full-length album by Lambchop, released in 1997.

The album title was chosen as a reference to the Michael Jackson album of the same name, one of the biggest-selling albums of all time, as an in-joke by frontman Kurt Wagner regarding the low sales of the first two Lambchop albums.

The track "Your Fucking Sunny Day" was released as a single from the album in a re-recorded "clean" version, under the title "Your Sucking Funny Day".

Three of the songs, "Hey Where's Your Girl", "Crawl Away" and "Superstar in France" are cover versions of songs from the album Poor Fricky by East River Pipe also released on Merge Records.

The sleeve is a painting by Wayne White, a childhood friend of Wagner who also provided cover art for Nixon, Aw Cmon and No You Cmon by the band.
