Chester Burton "Chet" Atkins (June 20, 1924 – June 30, 2001) was an American musician, occasional vocalist, songwriter and record producer who, along with Owen Bradley and Bob Ferguson, amongst others created the smoother country music style that came to be known as the Nashville sound, which expanded country's appeal to adult pop music fans as well. He was primarily known as a guitarist, but also played the fiddle and banjo and earlier the ukulele.
Atkins' signature picking style was inspired by Merle Travis. Other major guitar influences were Django Reinhardt, George Barnes, Les Paul and later Jerry Reed. His trademark picking style and musicianship brought him admirers within and outside the country scene, both in the United States and internationally. Atkins spent most of his career at RCA Victor and produced records for The Browns, Hank Snow, Porter Wagoner, Norma Jean, Dolly Parton, Dottie West, Perry Como, Elvis Presley, The Everly Brothers, Eddy Arnold, Don Gibson, Jim Reeves, Jerry Reed, Skeeter Davis, Waylon Jennings and many others.

William Thomas "Tommy" Emmanuel AM (born 31 May 1955) is an Australian guitarist, songwriter and occasional singer, best known for his complex fingerstyle technique, energetic performances and the use of percussive effects on the guitar. Although originally a session player in many bands, Emmanuel has carved out his own style as a solo artist in recent years, releasing award winning albums and singles. In the May 2008 and 2010 issues of Guitar Player Magazine, he was named "Best Acoustic Guitarist" in their readers' poll. In June 2010 Emmanuel was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM).
Emmanuel was born in Australia in 1955. He received his first guitar in 1959 at age four and was taught by his mother to accompany her playing lap steel guitar. At the age of seven in 1961 he heard a young Chet Atkins playing on the radio. He vividly remembers this moment and says it greatly inspired him.
By the age of six, in 1961, he was a working professional musician. Recognizing the musical talents of Tommy and his older brother Phil Emmanuel, their father created a family band, sold the family home and took his family on the road. With the family living in two station wagons, much of Emmanuel's childhood was spent touring Australia with them, playing rhythm guitar, and rarely going to school. The family found it difficult living on the road; they were poor but never hungry, never settling in one place. His father would often drive ahead, organize interviews, advertising and finding the local music shop where they would have an impromptu concert the next day. Eventually the New South Wales Department of Education insisted that the Emmanuel children needed to go to school regularly.
Air Traffic were an English alternative rock band from Bournemouth. Formed in 2003, the band consisted of Chris Wall (piano, lead vocals), David Ryan Jordan (Drums), Tom Pritchard (guitar) and Jim Maddock (bass guitar).
The band's name originated from when they used to rehearse in an industrial unit next to Hurn Airport, where air traffic control signals could be picked up on their amplifiers. Their music features heavy use of piano, and they have been described by NME to be like "Supergrass covering Little Richard". The band have received minor success with the release of their single "Shooting Star", which debuted at No. 30 in the UK singles chart, and the release of their debut album, Fractured Life.
Chris Wall first met David Ryan Jordan and Tom Pritchard whilst studying at school in Bournemouth in 2003. The band moved to London in 2005, they recruited fourth band member Jim Maddock and began looking for a record deal. Their first single, a double-a side of "Just Abuse Me" and "Charlotte", was released on 17 July 2006 through Label Fandango. 500 copies of the single were produced, all of which sold out within a few days of the release date. Following this, the band were signed to major label EMI. The band began to experience some mainstream success after being noticed by Steve Lamacq and Zane Lowe of BBC Radio 1, resulting in airplay on Radio 1, Capital Radio, XFM and Kerrang! Radio.

Art Sutherland is a Finger-Style Guitarist, who plays along the style of Chet Atkins, with the influences of Dave Parker and Merle Travis. Merle Travis once said of Art's playing, "I can't believe he is not famous!", and either can I. Truly a remarkable experience to hear him play one on one, I am fortunate to have the opportunity to record him live in studio. Art is a resident of Coronado, CA, and available for bookings worldwide. He may be contacted thru email at sutherland.art@gmail.com or his web site at Art.SutherlandGuitarist.com Shot in studio by David Hebble Photography & Film, with a Canon 5D Mk II, Rode Video Mic Pro, Zoom h4n, Ovallite 300 light bank.
While on the tour of historic RCA Studio B in Nashville, I had the opportunity to play the studio's Steinway (only after Monica let the tour guide know I was a pianist, I was to shy). The first call session pianist to work in this studio was Floyd Cramer. Elvis, Roy Orbison, Don Gibson, Porter Wagner, Dolly Parton, Charley Pride, Hank Snow, Waylon Jennings, and The Everly Brothers all recorded here. This studio gave birth to the Nashville Sound ( a combintation of what was then Country and the emerging new style of Rock & Roll). It was built under the supervision/orders of Chet Atkins, so that Elvis Presley would have a place to record, apparently until this studio was built, all of Elvis' hits were recorded in the stairwell of the RCA records office building! Elvis loved to sit at this pi...

Released on RCA LPM/LSP-3922 in 1968. Recorded off the original vinyl album. From the liner notes: "Side 1 (tracks 1-6) features a new sound in guitar - the "Octabass Guitar" developed by Chet and Jimmie Webster. The two bass strings are replaced by A and E bass-guitar strings. This results in an expanded frequency range of one octave, and when played (finger style), sounds very much like a guitar and bass duet." 00:00 Drive In 02:18 Three Little Words 04:58 Autumn Leaves 08:27 Chet's Tune 10:48 Mercy, Mercy, Mercy 13:05 Cheek to Cheek 16:20 Cindy, Oh Cindy 18:47 When You Wish Upon a Star 21:35 Music to Watch Girls By 24:11 Choro de Saudade 26:53 Gonna Get Along Without You Now 29:02 Georgy Girl

Recorded to audio cassette from a Brisbane radio station in March 1991. Sort of old news now, given that so much has been written about Chet since his passing, but an interesting interview at the time. It was a 'chance' taping as I didn't know it was going to be played by the station and Chet wasn't played much in those days, although he had his fans.

Well, my name it is a number it's on a piece of plastic film
And I've been growin' funny flowers outside on my little window sill
Don't you know I'm a 2,000 man
And my kids, they just don't understand me at all
You know, my wife still respects me even though I really misuse her
I am having an affair with the Random computer
Don't you know I'm a 2,000 man
And my kids, they just don't understand me at all
Oh daddy, proud of your planet, oh mommy, proud of your sun
Oh daddy, proud of your planet, oh mommy, proud of your sun
Oh daddy, your brain's still flashin' like they did when you were young
Or did they come down crashin' seeing all the thing's you'd done
Spacin' out havin' fun
Oh daddy, proud of your planet, oh mommy, proud of your sun
