A bridge dramatically collapsed in Lower Dir after torrential rains triggered flash floods in northwest Pakistan. The bridge collapse left many villages in remote areas virtually stranded as the nearest crossing is more than 15 kilometres away.

An array of military aircraft flew over Moscow's iconic Red Square on Saturday as part of the first aerial rehearsal for the upcoming Victory Day parade. AN-124 military transport aircraft, Mi-8 military transport helicopters, and Su-24 & Su-34 attack planes swept through the skies at a height of around 656 feet (200 meters).

The cathedral is representative of Moscow’s architecture with red brick monuments and an accumulation of onion-shaped towers. The Kremlin extends beyond a red wall and various towers that date back to the fifteenth century. Since time immemorial it has been the seat of both tsars and bishops and in front of its walls is Red Square that was once used as a marketplace and also a place of execution. Here the death penalty was declared and immediately carried out. Arbatskaya is a city district west of the Kremlin. In the fifteenth century, the craftsmen and servants of the Tsar lived there and then followed artists, intellectuals and aristocrats. In 1935 the Metro was inaugurated and had thirteen stations. Today there are more than a hundred located along two hundred and sixty kilometres of rail, used by millions each and every day. The Moscow Underground is fast, cheap and quite splendid. Its stations are veritable works of art! When the Tsar’s empire vanished, the realm of the Communist rulers was torn apart. But the mega metropolis of Moscow managed to survive. A restless and powerful city of fantastic culture and truly dramatic history.

A fascinating cruise travels across numerous rivers, canals and lakes within the heart of the former Tsar’s realm, past monasteries and timber built churches. In Uglič the Dimitrijvskaija Church is crowned with blue, onion-shaped domes that are adorned with stars. The red colour of the church is a symbol of bloodshed and the incidents that once occurred at this place of death gave rise to a time of confusion. St. Petersburg, known also as the Venice Of The North, contains splendid buildings such as the Winter Palace and the Eremitage. Twenty four thousand tree stumps were used for the foundation of Isaaks Cathedral that can accommodate a congregation of fourteen thousand. In Port Baikal is the modern Circum-Baikal train that takes a full day to travel around Lake Baikal and is one of the most difficult sections of the Trans-Siberian Railroad that travels from Moscow to as far as Vladivostok. However the development is not all bad the stall allows the air defence to finally cross the rivers and catch up. The broad front wraps up around the remaining Russian hold as chokepoints form and bullets and shells start to fly. Will the General be able to step onto the shore of the Capsian Sea or will his army get bogged down and be swept away in the confluence of the Volga?

This is one of my all time favorites, a master piece. First time I heard it I was in a toilet and I was just swept away.
So here's some info on Colour Haze, I took it from the internets:
"Colour Haze is a stoner/psychedelic rock group from Munich, Germany, consisting of singer and guitarist Stefan Koglek, drummer Manfred Merwald and bassist Philipp Rasthofer.
Formed in the mid-nineties, Colour Haze is one of the oldest German stoner outfits, and have since then become one of the flagships of the German stoner rock scene. Tours of the band have included headline spots at smaller national and international rock festivals, such as the U.S. festival Emissions from the Monolith in 2006 alongside Orange Goblin, Boris, and General Tso. Local media coverage have included a broadcast of a concert on national television, when Colour Haze appeared at Rockpalast in 2007.
Emerging from a sound heavily influenced by Black Sabbath, Grand Funk Railroad on their first records, they moved away from a heavy to a more melodic sound, e.g. on their album All (2008), as remarked by Denmark's LowCut webzine."

Обыкновенная продавщица Дулси (Александра Хохлова) мечтает о необыкновенно прекрасном мире. Ее грезы навеяны рассказами писателя Биля Портера - "великого утешителя" мещанских низов, оказавшегося жертвой судебной ошибки и начавшего свою литературную деятельность в тюрьме.
Он увидел чудовищные зверства американских тюремщиков, но его возмущение выражается в форме робкой апелляции к чувству человечности у жестоких палачей. Среди заключенных есть кучка привилегированных. Это те, кто "хорошим поведением" снискал у тюремщиков известные льготы. В их числе - Биль Портер. Ласкающее благодушие его рассказов расценивается тюремщиками как послушание, как "хорошее поведение". Начальник тюрьмы страхом и подачками, лестью и угрозами постепенно делает писателя своим пособником в обмане заключенных, участником в получении взяток с тюремных поставщиков.
"Великий утешитель" оказывается сломанным духовно и физически. Разбиваются от соприкосновения с жизнью и его утешительские идеи: Дульси, доведенная до отчаяния, убивает обманувшего её сыщика. Джим Валентайн, прототип героя одного из рассказов "с хорошим концом", погибает от руки палачей. Его смерть ознаменовалась бунтом заключённых, недовольных существующими порядками. А Биль Портер приходит к выводу о том, что он сопротивляться существующим порядкам не в силах, но когда-нибудь придут они, другие…

Это, быть может, один из лучших фильмов классика российского кинематографа Льва Кулешова (1899-1970). Как "неисправимый американист", Кулешов ("Мистер Вест", "По закону" и др.) на сей раз экранизировал новеллы О'Генри. Герой "Великого утешителя" - писатель, сочиняющий в тюрьме рассказы со счастливым концом. Наверное, картину Кулешова можно воспринимать и как своего рода иносказание - попытку размышления о судьбе художника в обществе, лишенном свободы... Жаль, что "Великий утешитель" оказался последним подлинно авторским фильмом режиссера.

The Great Consoler (1933) - It all takes place in 1899 America, a writer has been imprisoned for embezzling funds from a Texas bank, apparently this is based on the case of O'Henry, a more recognizable name then than it is now, but instead of using the relative comfort he enjoys on account of being a writer to expose ugliness in the system.
He writes the stories that a woman in another unconnected segment, one of those gaps mentioned by critics, avidly devours for its noble characters and grandiose drama, all of it sentimental, romantic fluff. His creative insight on a prison bed, is that a writer has to write 'using not ink but the blood of others'. So of course, he writes about a fellow inmate he knows who is promised parole for doing an errand. But he writes high-minded fantasy instead of the real thing.
The inmate's story we see as another segment, and as a silent film-within! The main event is even photographed by a cameraman inside the film!
(the introduction to sound had taken place only the previous year, so the memory of silent cinema was fresh and potent, Kuleshov was trying to get the audience to associate the optimistic story of human triumph with something belonging to the past and being swept away. Clever!)
Back on the level of reality, the thing culminates instead of triumph with indignant loss and betrayal; the prisoner having carried out the task is thrown back into a cell, the woman marries the town sheriff who is nothing like the benevolent sheriff described in O'Henry's prose.

"Look! Here is Jupiter. This is a pagan book illustrating pagan poetry, and it's a picture of Jupiter the king of the gods, and he's got a halo just like Christian saints will have in their pictures. And he's holding a globe just like Christ will in a thousand churches. And he's sitting under the arc of heaven as Christ does, and he's king of the stars and the moon and the sun. This is a pose which says to you,"KING". You can't have Jesus king of the world unless he looks like a king. That's where they're getting their iconography from - straight from the pagan faith. But When Christianity took over the Roman Empire, it attacked and swept away all these signs. Now these signs were as old as man himself, and Christianity was pretty poorly supplied with alternatives. After all, it was a language of books and words. But unless it was to fail, it had to develop and develop quickly a whole new set of images for the world. The trick, the genius, wasn't just to swap this ancient chaos with ten thousand pagan signs and symbols for a single set of Christian images, but to find a quick way of spreading these Christian images and pictures right through the ancient Mediterranean. Books - books were the answer. Books were invented at the same time that Christianity started."
