Duomo di Milano
Duomo di Milano is one of the most famous buildings in
Europe and the second largest
Catholic cathedral in the world. Construction of the cathedral was commissioned by bishop
Antonio da
Saluzzo in 1385. Entire building made up of pink-hued white marble (
Candoglia marble) from
Lake Maggiore (
Lago Maggiore). It took more than 5 centuries to finish the
Cathedral and considered the longest-worked cathedral in the world. Carlo Buzzi was an influential architect who reverted back to the
Gothic style. You can see the monument of
King Victor Emmanuel II in the center of the
Piazza del Duomo.
Milan Cathedral is 157m long and 40,000 people can fit comfortably within. A total of
3400 statues perched on the tops of the cathedral.
After exploring the inside visitors can experience the
Duomo’s roof via steps or elevator. On the north side a staircase and an elevator run to the roof terrace on the roof. You can enjoy the breathtaking views across
Milan and on a clear day you can see snow-capped peaks of the
Alps.

Milan Central station) will take about 4hours.

Metro - You can take Metro direcly to the Duomo. Take yellow line (
Line 3), four stops to the Duomo.

Walking - walking is the best way to see a city. Will take about 45minutes to an hour. (you need a map as Milan is complex, huge city)

Entry is only allowed in appropriate clothing.
The central nave of the cathedral is wheelchair accessible.
