Karl Denson talks about taking a break from The Greyboy Allstars and Karl Denson's Tiny Universe to play with the Karl Denson Trio. Filmed at the Mile High Music Festival 2009.
Video of my Interview with Karl Denson at the 2013 Dark Star Jubilee. Tune in every Thursday at noon on 88.3FM WAIF Cincinnati or waif883.org for streaming. A huge thanks to Karl for talking to me before his show. We had a nice interview talking a little bit about music, playing live, and the Grateful Dead. He is a super nice guy who tore it up at the Jubilee-check out the video on youtube(see below). His high energy dance music caused mass chaos at the Jubilee-especially when he covered the Beasties! Big thanks to Karl for taking time out from tuning up and trying to stay warm to chat with me. From a technical standpoint the video is a little rough-we had poor lighting in the lounge-but I felt the atmosphere was essential to Karl's pre-show warm up! The Greatest Story Ever Told radio show...
2010 is the year for saxophonist and bandleader Karl Denson. He's part of the 2010 Revolution of Soul Tour with the legendary Maceo Parker to rave reviews. Karl Denson's Tiny Universe's latest release "Brother's Keeper" features guest appearances by Meshell Ndegocello, Marc Ford (Black Crowes), and Jon Forman (Switchfoot). This disc is for those true soul-jazz/funk heads. Karl began his professional career as a member of Lenny Kravitz's first band with his debut release "Let Love Rule" and played with him for five years. While living overseas he developed a heavy music following allowing him to record five straight ahead jazz recordings on the Minor Records label. It was also there that Karl joined the legendary Fred Wesley's band. In the early 1990's, he hooked up with DJ Greyboy and for...
