A chess piece, or chessman, is any of the 32 movable objects deployed on a chessboard used to play the game of chess. In a standard game of chess, each of the two players begins a game with the following 16 pieces:
In playing chess, the players take turns moving one of their own chess pieces. The rules of chess prescribe the types of move a player can make with each type of chess piece.
The pieces that belong to each player are distinguished by color. The lighter colored pieces, and the player that plays them, are referred to as white. The darker colored pieces and their player are referred to as black.
In chess, the word "piece" has three meanings, depending on the context.
Sven Magnus Øen Carlsen (Norwegian: [sÊ‹É›n ˈmÉ‘Å‹nʉs øË?n ˈkÉ‘Ë?ÉsnÌ©]; born 30 November 1990) is a Norwegian chess grandmaster, No. 1 ranked player in the world and reigning World Chess Champion in classical and rapid. His peak rating is 2882, the highest in history.
A chess prodigy, Carlsen became a Grandmaster in 2004, at the age of 13 years, 148 days, making him the third youngest grandmaster in history. On 1 January 2010, at the age of 19 years, 32 days, he became the youngest chess player in history to be ranked world No. 1. In November 2013, Carlsen defeated Viswanathan Anand in the World Chess Championship 2013, thus becoming the new world chess champion. On the May 2014 FIDE rating list, Carlsen reached his top Elo rating of 2882, the highest in history. He successfully defended his title in November 2014, once again defeating Viswanathan Anand. In 2015, he won the inaugural Grand Chess Tour, a series of three supertournaments featuring the 10 best chess grandmasters in the world.
The Evans Gambit is a chess opening characterised by the moves:
The Encyclopaedia of Chess Openings has two codes for the Evans Gambit, C51 and C52.
The gambit is named after the Welsh sea Captain William Davies Evans, the first player known to have employed it. The first game with the opening is considered to be Evans–McDonnell, London 1827, although in that game a slightly different move order was tried (1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Bc5 4.0-0 d6 and only now 5.b4). In 1832, the first analysis of the gambit was published in the Second Series of Progressive Lessons (1832) by William Lewis. The gambit became very popular shortly after that, being employed a number of times in the series of games between McDonnell and Louis de la Bourdonnais in 1834. Players such as Adolf Anderssen, Paul Morphy and Mikhail Chigorin subsequently took it up. After Emanuel Lasker's simplifying defense to the opening in a tournament in 1895, it was out of favour for much of the 20th century, although John Nunn and Jan Timman played some games with it in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and in the 1990s Garry Kasparov used it in a few of his games (notably a famous 25-move win against Viswanathan Anand in Riga, 1995), which prompted a brief revival of interest in it.
Judit Polgár (born 23 July 1976) is a Hungarian chess grandmaster. She is generally considered the strongest female chess player in history. In 1991, Polgár achieved the title of Grandmaster at the age of 15 years and 4 months, at the time the youngest to have done so, breaking the record previously held by former World Champion Bobby Fischer. She is the youngest ever player, to date, to break into the FIDE Top 100 players rating list, being ranked No. 55 in the January 1989 rating list, at the age of 12. She is the only woman to qualify for a World Championship tournament, having done so in 2005. She is the first, and to date, only woman to have surpassed the 2700 Elo rating barrier, reaching a career peak rating of 2735 and peak world ranking of No. 8, both achieved in 2005. She was the number 1 rated woman in the world from January 1989 up until the March 2015 rating list, when she was overtaken by Chinese player Hou Yifan; she was the No. 1 again in the August 2015 women's rating list, in her last appearance in the FIDE World Rankings.
Vugar Gashimov (Azerbaijani: Vüqar Həşimov; 24 July 1986 – 11 January 2014) was an Azerbaijani chess grandmaster. He was a noted player of blitz chess. At his peak ranking he was No. 6 in the world, achieved in November 2009.
He won the Athens 2005 (Acropolis International), and he was the winner of the Cappelle-la-Grande open 2008. In 2010–11 he tied for first with Francisco Vallejo Pons at Reggio Emilia and won the event on tie-break.
Gashimov was born on July 24, 1986 in Baku. He was the son of a retired army colonel who served at the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan.
In 2010, Gashimov won the Reggio Emilia chess tournament.
Gashimov played for Azerbaijan in the Chess Olympiads of 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2008. He played in the gold medal-winning Azerbaijani team at the European Team Chess Championship in Novi Sad in 2009, alongside Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Teimour Radjabov, Rauf Mammadov and Gadir Guseinov, previously winning bronze medal in 2007. In 2010, however, he did not represent his country at the Chess Olympiad in Khanty-Mansiysk due to a conflict with the national chess federation and former team coach Zurab Azmaiparashvili.

So on Christmas night of 2015, me and the roommate invented a brand new way to play chess. It's called Three Kings Chess. Really, I created the game and he was my drunken assistant in testing it. We had just played one game of it, and we realized how well this variant plays, and I said, "Hey, you're drunk too, right? Let's film a game for Youtube. It will be fun!" He said no way. But I talked him into it. So we did. Here's are the rules: 1.Instead of one king, you have three kings, represented by three bottle caps. There is no such thing as "check" until you are down to your last king and the bottlecap is replaced with the actual king piece. This way, you can put two enemies kings in a fork, and gain one of them. Or you can sacrifice a king, if the gain is good enough. Like training a k...

Sometimes I imagine my life's like a chessboard where even a piece influences my game. Sometimes I dream of living inside a sphere where I can watch everything that surrounds me. When I open my eyes, I feel the weight of everyday so even my pride escapes from problems to be free and safe. I breathe the same air and the same smells, knowing that nobody can repay me for the loss of my chess piece.
