Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre is located about 25 kilometres west of Sandakan in the state of Sabah, East Malaysia.
The centre opened in 1964 as the first official orangutan rehabilitation project for rescued orphaned baby orangutans from logging sites, plantations, illegal hunting or kept as pets. The orphaned orangutans are trained to survive again in the wild and are released as soon as they are ready. Some park rangers and guides have received training from primatologist Francine Neago. The sanctuary is located within the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve which covers an area of 4,294 ha (10,610 acres), much of which is virgin rainforest. Today around 60 to 80 orangutans are living free in the reserve. It has become one of Sabah's tourist attractions.
In October 2014 the centre opened a new section where visitors can view the nursery area where the younger Orangutans first learn to be outside and play on a large climbing frame. This consists of 2 large indoor seating areas (one with air conditioning and one with fans only) with a large window that overlooks the play area. There is no additional charge to enter this part of the centre.
Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre was opened in 1964 with the aim of orphaned, injured or displaced orangutans back to the wild. So far, some 760 orangutan have successfully undergone the process of rehabilitation and have been released into the 4294 hectare Kabili-Sepilok Forest, a virgin jungle reserve rich in tropical rainforest and mangrove swamp. During our time in Borneo we had the opportunity to go to Kinabatangan River and the Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre in Sepilok. Both trips were awesome for different reasons, although at Sepilok we came extrememly close to some fury creatures.
We take a bus to the small town of Sandakan where we spend the night before visiting the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. The centre opened in 1964 and is the first rehabilitation project for rescued orangutans. The orangutans are orphaned due to mass deforestation from logging or palm oil sites, the illegal pet trade and the hunting. The rescued orangutans are then trained to survive in the wild with the aim of releasing them back into natural habitat. The sanctuary sits within a 4,294 ha (10,610 acres) forest reserve and the orangutans are free to venture into the forest whenever they are ready. For more great information, photos and video about Malaysia, see PleaseTakeMeTo's Malaysia Travel Guide - http://www.pleasetakemeto.com/malaysia The Semengoh Orangutan Centre is located about 45 minutes drive south of Kuching. The centre was established in 1975 as a place to rehabilitate injured, orphaned and captive Orangutans. The centre is nestled within a secluded forest reserve into which these beautiful creatures are encouraged to venture and reconnect with their natural being. They are released for short periods initially, which are increased until they have mastered their ability to live independently in the wild. Occasionally during dry seasons when forest foods are scarce, rehabilitated Orangutans reemerge from the forest, much to the joy of their former keepers. ...

If you're new to my channel, then welcome - if not, welcome back! I'm currently on a huge adventure and probably somewhere quite random as you read this. On 28 April 2017, I left home with my friend Sarah. Our goal is to spend 12 months working in Australia on the Australia Holiday Working visa. On our way to the cities of Kangeroos and Shrimps on the Barbies (no offence), we'll be stopping off and visiting cities across the world. Kuala Lumpur was amazing but I was so excited to get on the plane to Borneo… somewhere I had only dreamt of visiting. We made the most of our visit and visited so many places. We started in Kota Kinabalu and stayed at the Grand Borneo hotel, attached to 1 Borneo. We visited KK city and the following day hoped on a plane to Sandakan. We went straight to Sepilok...
Travel Cheap to the Borneo Jungle, near Sandakan. Sabah, Malaysia, for under $20 Day. Visit the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center while you are in Borneo. This is an uncaged sanctuary for orangutans who have lost their jungle habitat from palm oil deforestation. Borneo is one of the largest islands in the world. Borneo is south of Vietnam between Singapore and the Philippines. Borneo is so large that it includes parts of Indonesia and Malaysia and all of Brunei. As you fly over the Borneo Jungle, it looks like over 50% of the old growth jungle has been cleared for palm oil farms. I asked a palm oil farming engineer I met on the bus about it and he said the Malaysian government will only allow 50% of the jungle to be cleared. But from the air it looks like it is already mor...

All I need is crowd, and my M-I-C
Got a gangster ass DJ named Evil E
My record label's called Warner B

Cause my money I keep
You move on the Ice
And you're goin' to sleep
But when you see me
Walkin' down the street
You say, "What's up Ice?"
And I say, "Peace!"
You give me a dap, I give you one back
Cause I ain't souped
So forget about that
We might take pictures
Sign n utograph
Kick a little flavor
Have some fun and laugh
But step to me wrong
You might get shot
