The NKVE or New Klang Valley Expressway (Lebuhraya Baru Lembah Klang) connects the North-South Expressway to Klang and importantly to the Central Link Expressway (NSE-CSL). The link bypasses kuala Lumpur city for travellers coming from both North and South. It also allows access to Cyberjaya, Putrajaya and KL International Airport (KLIA). The NKVE is one of the busiest and toughest highways to drive on. From Jalan Duta, a gradient forces overladen lorries to crawl at a snail's pace. Faster trucks overtake into the middle lane. On the outer lane, it is common to see slower drivers hogging it, while impatient vehicles tailgate or overtake on the left. At the Bukit Lanjan Interchange, vehicles from both directions criss-cross before merging. At the congested sections near the Damansara and Subang exits, it is common to see cars and heavy vehicles racing down the emergency lane. Sometimes known (erroneously) as the North Klang Valley Expressway, the highway begins at the Jalan Duta Toll Plaza in the east and ends at the Bukit Raja toll Plaza in the west. At the Bukit Lanjan Interchange, the road forks into westwards to Klang or northwards to Sungai Buloh on the NSE. On the way to Klang, vehicles can proceed to KLIA or south to Seremban and Johor Bahru (JB) at the Shah Alam Interchange via the Central Link. Another exit connects to Shah Alam, Bukit Jelutong, the Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE) and LATAR to Kuala Selangor. In between, there are exits for Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya (Damansara via Sprint Highway), Subang and Setia Alam. At the west end, after the Bukit Raja Toll Plaza, exit left to i-City, Klang town and the Federal Highway. Head straight to Bukit Raja Industrial Park, North Klang Straits Bypass (Lebuhraya Shapadu) and North Port. Construction of NKVE began in 1985 and was fully completed / officially opened in 1993.
