Lecture
Description:
Do you have clients with a history of sexual trauma?
Chances are you often have hit a wall during treatment, because verbally exploring these issues can be so triggering and scary
. Art Therapy is an extremely effective addition/alternative to talk therapy. Encouraging our clients to examine their feelings through the creative process is less threatening and gets to the subconscious in a manner that talking just cannot access.
Join us as Pamela Hayes,
Art Therapist, ATR-BC,
MFT presents on working with survivors of sexual trauma. She will be addressing topics such as:
• How sexual trauma and sexual manipulation interferes with our daily lives and our self esteem.
•
Concrete interventions for treating survivors of sexual abuse.
• Clinical issues specific to sexual abuse and how it affects our personal and sexual lives as teenagers and adults.
•
Case studies of clients with a sexual abuse history, and example of art interventions for this population.
• Resources for implementing Art Therapy as an alternative form of treatment.
