Tivoli Castle (Slovene: Grad Tivoli), originally called Podturn Manor, is a mansion in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia.
The mansion is located in the city's Tivoli Park (the part in the Rožnik District), northwest of (and visible from) the city centre, at the foot of Rožnik Hill. It is the terminus of the JakopiÄ? Promenade (formerly the Lantieri Promenade), itself the continuation of Cankar Street.
An alpine-style building called the Å vicarija (German: Schweitzerhaus 'the Swiss House', formerly the Tivoli Hotel) stands behind the mansion. The Jesenko Educational Trail leads past it.
Built in the 17th century atop the ruins of a previous Renaissance-period castle, the mansion was initially owned by the Jesuits, but came into the possession of the Diocese of Ljubljana following the 1773 suppression of the Jesuit order. Used as the bishop's summer residence, it was surrounded with orchards.
In the mid-19th century, it was bought by the Austrian emperor Francis Joseph I, who in 1852 presented it as a gift to the veteran Habsburg marshal Joseph Radetzky. Radetzky renovated the mansion in the Neoclassical style, giving it its present appearance, and spent much of his retirement in it with his wife Francisca von Strassoldo Grafenberg, a local Carniolan noblewoman.
Rocca Pia is a comune and town in the Province of L'Aquila in the Abruzzo region of Italy. Its territory extended up to the level of Cinquemiglia. Rocca Pia is also the name of a castle in Tivoli, near Rome.
Tivoli City Park (Slovene: Mestni park Tivoli) or simply Tivoli Park (Park Tivoli) is the largest park in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. It is located on the northern outskirts of the Center District, stretching to the Å iÅ¡ka District to the north, the ViÄ? District to the south, and the Rožnik District to the west. Several notable buildings and art works stand in the park. Since 1984, the park has been protected as part of Tivoli–Rožnik Hill–ŠiÅ¡ka Hill Nature Park. It is home to a variety of bird species.
Tivoli Castle is a mansion and is the terminus of the JakopiÄ? Promenade. Built in the 17th century atop the ruins of a previous Renaissance-period castle, the mansion was initially owned by the Jesuits. In the middle of the 19th century, it was renovated by Marshal Joseph Radetzky (1766–1858) in the Neoclassical style, giving it its present appearance. In 1864, the Austrian sculptor Anton Dominik Fernkorn (1813–1878) created four cast iron dogs that stand in front of the castle. Because the dogs do not have tongues, it has been falsely rumoured that Fernkorn committed suicide by shooting himself due to this mistake. An alpine-style building called the Å vicarija ("Swissery", formerly the Hotel Tivoli) stands behind the mansion. The Jesenko nature trail leads past it.

The Friends (French: Les Amis) is a 1971 French drama film directed by Gérard Blain. The film won the Golden Leopard at the Locarno International Film Festival.
The true story of hundreds of Italians in face-to-face meetings with extraterrestrials calling themselves "the Friends". The cold war raged between the United States and the Soviet Union, threatening to erupt into nuclear exchange and radioactive fallout, spreading a fatal, invisible poison across the surface of the planet. Every nation in the world feared what the superpowers would do. Italian writer Bruno Sammaciccia was given an old parchment map of the Rocca Pia castle grounds, in central Italy. He called it his treasure map. In April he was searching the grounds with his friends, Giancarlo and Julio. They were approached by two figures. Julio was alarmed, suggesting they were security guards because they both wore the same uniform. But Bruno said, "I think not." One was ver...

Take a tour of Hadrian's Villa in Tivoli, Italy -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions series by GeoBeats. The villa had several palaces, a theater, temples, libraries, and hot baths. Supposedly, Hadrian designed many parts of the villa based on places in the Empire he had visited. Though much of the villa is in ruins, there are other parts that have been restored. Hadrian's villa features statues and structures from mythology and the legends of history.
Ljubljana is the capital of the young republic of Slovenia, a city of culture and history, elegance and charm. It is Slovenia’s ‘Florence’ situated between the Alps and the Balkans, the Adriatic and Lake Balaton. The Old Place, with a monument of national poet, Prešeren, is the gateway to the Old Town. With its pink marble façade, the Early Baroque Franciscan Church Of Mary dominates the square. The Dom Church Stolnica was built according to the design of Venetian, Andrea Pozzo in the 17th century. The interior of this Baroque church is quite overwhelming and with great attention to detail. Situated on the four hundred metre high Castle Hill, the Slovenian Acropolis was once inhabited by the Illyrians and Celts. The Roman watchtower later became both a strategic fortress and castle.
