Ella Henderson

Gabriella Michelle "Ella" Henderson (born 12 January 1996) is a British singer and songwriter. She was a contestant in the ninth series of The X Factor in 2012 and got into the final 12 finishing in sixth place, despite being a strong favourite to win. She was subsequently signed to Syco Music.

Henderson's first single, "Ghost", co-written with Ryan Tedder, was released on 8 June 2014 and gave Henderson her first UK Singles Chart Number 1 while remaining in the top five of the chart for eight consecutive weeks. It has subsequently been certified platinum for sales in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. Henderson has released three subsequent singles, "Glow", "Yours" and "Mirror Man".

Her debut album Chapter One was released on 13 October 2014 and peaked at Number 1 on the UK Albums Chart, achieving UK platinum certification on 16 January 2015.

Early life

Henderson was born and raised in Tetney, Lincolnshire to a Scottish father, Sean, and an English mother, Michelle. She has two brothers, Patrick and Fraser; and a sister, Holly. Henderson developed a keen interest in fashion in her youth, notably vintage fashion, which she retains.

Gorgon City

Gorgon City are an English garage duo, consisting of two North London producers Kye "Foamo" Gibbon and Matt "RackNRuin" Robson-Scott. Their 2013 single "Real" peaked to number 44 on the UK Singles Chart. They are also well known for their 2014 single "Ready for Your Love", which reached number 4 on the UK Singles Chart. They are currently signed to the London-based independent label Black Butter Records.

Music career

2012–13: Real EP

The duo's first collaboration The Crypt EP, featuring Navigator, Rubi Dan, and Janai, was released on 27 February 2012. One year later, on 17 February 2013, they collaborated with Yasmin for the lead track of the Real EP. The song peaked at number 44 on the UK Singles Chart and number 7 on the UK Indie Chart.

2013–present: Sirens

On 12 May 2013 they released "Intentions" featuring Clean Bandit. On 26 January 2014 they released "Ready for Your Love" featuring MNEK. The song is their highest-charting song to date, entering the UK Singles Chart at number four. On 23 March 2014, they released "There Is No Other Time", a collaborative single with indie rock group Klaxons. On 26 May 2014, they released "Here for You", the second single from their debut album. The song entered the UK Singles Chart at number seven. They produced Jess Glynne's single "Right Here", which was released on 6 July 2014. They remixed the song "Back 2 the Wild" by Basement Jaxx in August 2014 for the album Junto. The third single from their debut album, "Unmissable", premiered on MistaJam's 1Xtra show on 21 July 2014. The song entered the UK Singles Chart at number nineteen. The album, Sirens was released on 6 October 2014 and peaked at number 10 on the UK Albums Chart. A compilation album alongside Pete Tong, entitled All Gone Pete Tong and Gorgon City Miami 2015, was released on 22 March 2015. The compilation features two exclusive tracks from Gorgon City: "Sky High" and "The Terminal".

Eurovision Song Contest

The Eurovision Song Contest (French: Concours Eurovision de la chanson), often shortened to ESC or Eurovision, is the longest-running annual TV song competition, held, primarily, among the member countries of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) since 1956. The competition was based upon the existing Sanremo Music Festival held in Italy.

Each participating country submits an original song to be performed on live television and radio and then casts votes for the other countries' songs to determine the most popular song in the competition. The contest has been broadcast every year for sixty years, since its inauguration in 1956, and is one of the longest-running television programmes in the world. It is also one of the most watched non-sporting events in the world, with audience figures having been quoted in recent years as anything between 100 million and 600 million internationally. Eurovision has also been broadcast outside Europe to several countries that do not compete, such as the USA and China. An exception was made in 2015, when Australia was allowed to compete as a guest entrant as part of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the event. In November 2015, the EBU announced that Australia would return in 2016. Since 2000, the contest has also been broadcast over the Internet, via the Eurovision website.
