Denver is the capital of the U.S. state of Colorado and is located at 1,600 metres above sea level, on a sunny high plateau on the edge of the Rocky Mountains.
A number of brave pioneers once believed that Denver would be an ideal centre of trade and despite Indian hostilities and various other hazards, they decided to build a town in this region.
The 16th Street Mall is the city's pride. Inaugurated in 1982, it is a splendid avenue that boasts the longest pedestrianised area in the U.S.A. Trees, fountains and sculptures adorn the street as well as horses and carriages.
On Arapahoe Street, close to 16th Street ,is the Daniels And Fisher Tower. In 1911, William Cooke Daniels ordered the construction of a bell tower above his shop. It resembled the Campanile of Venice and was designed to create a good degree of southern charm.
Denver became a boomtown when the railroad arrived in 1870. The Native Indians were forced to make way for those arriving by railroad and who were attracted by the possibility of making an easy buck.
This once lively village has now developed into a modern city and the former trading arenas for fur, gold and silver have now been replaced by a skyline of glittering skyscrapers!

The Indian Museum features Indian culture and work tools and is an impressive record of a long forgotten time and a people that almost became extinct. Sprague Lake is one of the region’s many glacial lakes and is ideal for walkers as well as anglers and boat enthusiasts, and several ranches offer accommodation. Ghost towns, gold mines, ancient cultures and mountain paradises, Native Indians, explorers, fur traders and gold prospectors, all the ingredients of the colourful history of America’s wild West. Colorado is indeed a place of spectacular nature and breathtaking adventure!

Jerpoint Abbey near Thomastown dates back to the twelfth century. It is one of the most beautiful Cistercian ruins in Ireland. The Cistercians built the monastery in characteristic style and one of the stone sarcophaguses is said to contain the bones of Holy Nicolas who was buried there by the Crusaders. Although much of it has remained unspoiled, Ireland has undergone much change. A restless, colourful and vibrant harbour town and the northernmost point which famous explorer Dr. David Livingstone reached on his historic voyage of discovery. Cichlids, the living jewels of Lake Malawi, are highly sought after among aquatic fish enthusiasts, the brightly coloured males achieving the highest prices. Provided with a good supply of oxygen and a light sedative in the water, once a month the fish are taken to the airport. The craggy rock scenery of Lake Malawi was not always below water. Only when the southern section of the East African Rift Valley filled with water did it become home to cichlids. On the extreme south east coast on the border with Mozambique is Mount Mulanje, a huge mountain range that formed during volcanic activity more than a hundred and thirty million years ago. At the foot of the mountain scenery grows one of the world’s finest varieties of tea. The Maravi Kingdom eventually became an independent country, Malawi, the warm and beating heart of Africa!

In the Lake Kazuni area there are many hippos and crocodiles which although rarely seen from the shore can certainly be heard at night. The location of the small town of Nkhata Bay is quite spectacular, a large, sheltered bay, accessible via a steep slope. Small boats transport the local people to various locations so that they can buy and sell, as there are hardly any roads around the lake. A restless, colourful and vibrant harbour town and the northernmost point which famous explorer Dr. David Livingstone reached on his historic voyage of discovery. Cichlids, the living jewels of Lake Malawi, are highly sought after among aquatic fish enthusiasts, the brightly coloured males achieving the highest prices. Provided with a good supply of oxygen and a light sedative in the water, once a month the fish are taken to the airport. The craggy rock scenery of Lake Malawi was not always below water. Only when the southern section of the East African Rift Valley filled with water did it become home to cichlids. On the extreme south east coast on the border with Mozambique is Mount Mulanje, a huge mountain range that formed during volcanic activity more than a hundred and thirty million years ago. At the foot of the mountain scenery grows one of the world’s finest varieties of tea. This once lively village has now developed into a modern city and the former trading arenas for fur, gold and silver have now been replaced by a skyline of glittering skyscrapers!

South west of Dublin is Kildare, the heart of Ireland’s horse racing. In 1902 the Irish national stud, Tully House, was founded there. Rich and eccentric Scottish brewery heir, Colonel William Hall-Walker, had the idea of a creating unique horse breeding scheme that would be based upon astrological calculation. The Wicklow Mountains are a natural paradise of mountains, swamps and lakes, beautiful valleys and a fascinating mountain landscape to the south of Dublin. Jerpoint Abbey near Thomastown dates back to the twelfth century. It is one of the most beautiful Cistercian ruins in Ireland. The Cistercians built the monastery in characteristic style and one of the stone sarcophaguses is said to contain the bones of Holy Nicolas who was buried there by the Crusaders. Although much of it has remained unspoiled, Ireland has undergone much change. It is a land of great natural beauty, healthy commercial success and excellent hospitality: a wild green island set in the wild Atlantic Ocean!

In the Lake Kazuni area there are many hippos and crocodiles which although rarely seen from the shore can certainly be heard at night. The location of the small town of Nkhata Bay is quite spectacular, a large, sheltered bay, accessible via a steep slope. Small boats transport the local people to various locations so that they can buy and sell, as there are hardly any roads around the lake. A restless, colourful and vibrant harbour town and the northernmost point which famous explorer Dr. David Livingstone reached on his historic voyage of discovery. Cichlids, the living jewels of Lake Malawi, are highly sought after among aquatic fish enthusiasts, the brightly coloured males achieving the highest prices. Provided with a good supply of oxygen and a light sedative in the water, once a month the fish are taken to the airport. The craggy rock scenery of Lake Malawi was not always below water. Only when the southern section of the East African Rift Valley filled with water did it become home to cichlids. On the extreme south east coast on the border with Mozambique is Mount Mulanje, a huge mountain range that formed during volcanic activity more than a hundred and thirty million years ago. At the foot of the mountain scenery grows one of the world’s finest varieties of tea. The Maravi Kingdom eventually became an independent country, Malawi, the warm and beating heart of Africa!

Dawit The Third, a son of Emperor Iyasu, had his palace built in the north of Fasil Ghebbi, protected by a nine hundred metre long wall. Lions were kept in cages and art and culture made Gondar the religious centre of Ethiopia. In the mountainous highlands of Ethiopia there is an extraordinary treasure of the history of mankind, namely the eleven rock churches of Lalibela. In the thirteenth century the famous Amhara sovereign, Lalibela, decided to establish a new Jerusalem in his kingdom. Unique in their construction, the rock churches are among the most little-known miracles of the world, well disguised in the red tuff rock. The peaceful atmosphere of Lake Tana marks the end of the historic route through the north of Ethiopia. An impressive route with a dramatic history.

Belfast, located on the northeast coast of Ireland, is an eclectic mixture of history and modernity. Scattered throughout the countryside you’ll find Iron Age forts, medieval castles, and more modern construction dating to the 20th century. Belfast got on the fast track to modernizing in the 19th century, when it became known as a shipbuilding mecca. Among the famous vessels built at Belfast through the decades are the RMS Titanic and its sister ships, Olympic and Britannic.
A great deal of Belfast’s modern identity stems from over three decades of political and religious strife. These issues have influenced much of the city’s public art, as a great number of murals and statues depict people and events from those times. A walk around this easily accessible city is a walk through that troubled past.
You’ll probably be hungry after exploring so much of the city’s history on your Belfast tour, so swing on down to one of the local pubs to drink a pint and share a meal with some of the locals. Just walk down the street and head into what venue catches your eye; the city is easily navigable on foot, and you never know what sort of delightful gallery, park, or restaurant you’re going to find just around the bend.

The green valley and its many olive trees has a long history. The earliest people to live here grew crops and today the plantations contain olive trees, bananas, mangos, passion fruit and dates. Putre, the only large settlement on the old Inca route, lies at an altitude of three thousand five hundred metres above sea level. It lies sheltered on a mountain ridge at the foot of the snow-covered peaks of the Andes. The plaza is the centre of the town’s administration and also contains the Iglesia De Putre that is said to have once been adorned with silver and gold. Nature, highland oases and old mountain villages have all been a part of this fascinating journey. The location of this holy sanctuary is ideal as its temple area is situated on the summit of a mountain ridge that provides an excellent view of the entire valley. Kathmandu Valley is Nepal’s treasure house, along with all of its wonderful medieval Himalayan art and culture.
