Sasano appeared in Kiyoshi Kurosawa's 2003 film Bright Future. He also appeared in Amir Naderi's 2011 film Cut.

Tomohisa Sako

Tomohisa Sako (佐香智久, Sakō Tomohisa, born December 26, 1991, Sapporo, Hokkaido) is a Japanese singer. He has several singles and albums that have charted on the Oricon charts, including "Zutto", which reached number 12 on the Oricon Singles Chart, and "Kimi Koi Calendar", which peaked at number 13, both in 2012. His album Hajimemashite reached number 27 on the Oricon Albums Chart.

Natsume's Book of Friends

Natsume's Book of Friends (Japanese: 夏目友人帳, Hepburn: Natsume Yūjin-chō) is a Japanese fantasy manga series by Yuki Midorikawa. It began serialization by Hakusensha in the shōjo manga magazine LaLa DX in 2005, before switching to LaLa in 2008. The chapters have been collected in eighteen bound volumes. The series is about Natsume, an orphaned teenage boy who can see spirits, who inherits from his grandmother the notebook she used to bind spirits under her control. Natsume's Book of Friends was a finalist for the first Manga Taishō award in 2008.

Natsume's Book of Friends has been adapted as a series of drama CDs, as well as an anime television series produced by Brain's Base, which was broadcast on TV Tokyo in 4 seasons in 2008, 2009, 2011, and 2012. The manga is licensed for English-language release in North America by Viz Media, which released the first volume in January 2010. All four seasons of the anime have been licensed by NIS America for a North American release in 2012.

Takashi Miike

Takashi Miike (三池崇史, Miike Takashi, born August 24, 1960) is a highly prolific and controversial Japanese filmmaker. He has directed over ninety theatrical, video, and television productions since his debut in 1991. Miike is credited with directing fifteen productions in the years 2001 and 2002 alone. His films range from violent and bizarre to dramatic and family-friendly.

Biography

Early life

Miike was born in Yao, Osaka, Japan, an area inhabited by the working class and immigrants. His family was originally from Kumamoto Prefecture. During World War II, his grandfather was stationed in China and Korea, and his father was born in Seoul. His father worked as a welder and his mother as seamstress. Although he claimed to have attended classes only rarely, he graduated from Yokohama Vocational School of Broadcast and Film (Yokohama Hōsō Eiga Senmon Gakkō) under the guidance of renowned filmmaker Shohei Imamura, the founder and Dean of that institution.

Career

Miike's first films were television productions, but he also began directing several direct-to-video V-Cinema releases. Miike still directs V-Cinema productions intermittently due to the creative freedom afforded by the less stringent censorship of the medium and the riskier content that the producers will allow.

Japanese cinema was once the most admired cinema in the world. When they were young, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Francis F. Coppola were fighting to parade around Hollywood next to Akira Kurosawa. Star Wars or Kill Bill are directly influenced by Japanese directors. Mikio Naruse, Yasujiro Ozu or Kenji Mizoguchi have left works that illuminates still today the movie industry. Yet Japan seems the only place on the planet that is unaware of the richness of its cinematographic tradition. Amir Naderi refuses to bow. A veteran Iranian-American director, Mr Naderi is about to release CUT. CUT is the movie of his life. He took 10 years to finish it. CUT is an homage to the greatness of Japanese cinema as well as a wake-up call to the creative spirits of Japan. He will talk about his experience of working with Japanese star actors, Hidetoshi Nishijima, Takako Tokiwa, Takashi Sasano and others; the necessity of Japanese classic cinema; and the future fo cinema as a form of art and entertainment.
