In their time in the church, the couple began to fight, and the man assaulted the woman before taking her hostage. The video captures the ensuing stand off with police in front of a crowd of onlookers. The man begins hurting the woman, threatening to kill her, when our hero Erasmo Francisco Rodrigues de Lima intervenes. De Lima tackles the gunman to the ground, who then draws his pistol and fires into De Lima’s chest. De Lima tries to flee, but he is quickly shot by police. We then see the blood stain from where De Lima was shot on his shirt, and he dies at the door of the church. 4. William Swenson https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=en1ZHMANDkg William Swenson is a Medal of Honor recipient for his role in the 2009 Battle of Ganjgal which left more than 20 people dead. Swenson, an army captain at the time of battle, was part of a U.S. army column that was ambushed by sixty insurgents in a valley. Over the course of battle Swenson called in air support, and responded to the Taliban’s demand for surrender by throwing a hand grenade at them. William Swenson personally traveled through an enemy kill zone in order to rescue not only U.S. army men but members of the Afghan coalition as well. This video is a record of his heroism. 3. The woman had passed out while driving, causing her vehicle to speed and lose control. The police officer, after having seen the woman, realized what condition she was in and followed her. Once the car began to veer off the road, the officer did what was necessary and used his vehicle in order to slow the car and direct it towards the road barriers. 2. Syrian White Helmets https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tnu7HUreOdA The Syrian White Helmets are members of the Syrian Civil Defense, a humanitarian non-governmental organization of volunteers who work in war torn Syria in order to deliver aid to those in need of it or rescue civilians have been caught as collateral damage in the war between the government and various rebel groups. This organization has been controversial, as it’s been considered by some to have ties to militant Islamic groups by the west and United States, and to close to the west by Russia and the Syrian government. On June 5th, 2014, at 3:30 PM, the gunman who had a history of mental illness attacked students in the school’s Otto Miller Hall. Miller shot freshman Paul Lee, who died, and wounded one other man and woman. In this video, we see the gunman enter a room and begin speaking to a man using his lap top, before a woman tries to leave. The gunman shoots her, and begins to reload. Jon Meis, a student building monitor, acts quickly and pepper sprays the gunman and tackles him to the ground, restraining him.
