Plot: In long flashbacks, David Owen looks back to when he lived in Manhattan with his wife and baby. The unnecessary noises of the city interrupt his life to the point that he takes a baseball bat to the windshield of cars whose alarms are blaring. After a few arrests, his wife kicks him out. On his own, he learns to avoid arrest and leaves a calling card as "The Rectifier" when he breaks into an offending car. Gruska, an enterprising young reporter, tracks him down. He tells her his story, they become lovers, and she organizes a petition drive for a ballot initiative to ban car alarms. The mayor becomes the Rectifier's bête noire. Can David fight City Hall and win?

Plot: In Los Angeles, the twenty-five years old reckless wolf playboy Ethan Humphries lives in night-clubs scoring women supported by his parents, without working or studying. When his high-school friend Bradley accidentally tells him that his former best friend Jeff will get married in a couple of days, Ethan immediately travels to his hometown. Plot: A rash of bizarre murders in New York City seems to point to a group of grotesquely deformed vagrants living in the sewers. Plot: Emily Gault arrives at the Carrell mansion determined to rekindle an old relationship with Guy Carrell, despite the disapproval of his sister, Kate. Guy overcomes his all-consuming fear of being buried alive long enough to marry Emily but soon becomes obsessed again, building a crypt designed to guarantee that he will not fall prey to his most dreaded nightmare. Plot: Silky has always moved booze. In prohibition, he smuggled it from Canada, but now that it is legal, he produces his own brand. Seven years before, he sent Doc to prison because Doc was an honest man. Now that he is getting out, Silky wants an honest man as his general manager. When an English solicitor arrives to show that Silky is the new Earl of Gorley, Doc sees his chance to get Silky out of the way. But Silky takes Doc with him to England to see about selling his holdings and taking the money. While Doc knows that none of the property can be sold, he does not tell Silky. While Silky is shown all his duties and responsibilities, Doc is busy bankrupting his business in Chicago.

Plot: A young man and his sheepdog, Treve, are given a job on a sheep-ranch by the niece of the owner. The uncle is an eccentric with a cowering fear of dogs even though dogs are required as herders on sheep ranches. The dig saves the rancher's life and then wins a number of prizes at a dog show. Later the owners of the surrounding ranches accuse Treve of being a sheep killer though the killer is a three-legged wolf. The ranchers are preparing to execute Treve.

Plot: Her prison term complete, a beautiful chorus girl is quickly taken away from the prison gates in a taxicab, leaving the reporter sent to interview her beaten and bewildered.
