Bradford i/ˈbrædfərd/ is in the Metropolitan Borough of the City of Bradford in West Yorkshire, England, in the foothills of the Pennines 8.6 miles (14 km) west of Leeds, and 16 miles (26 km) northwest of Wakefield. Bradford became a municipal borough in 1847, and received its charter as a city in 1897. Following local government reform in 1974, city status was bestowed upon the wider metropolitan borough.
Bradford forms part of the West Yorkshire Urban Area conurbation which in 2001 had a population of 1.5 million and is the fourth largest urban area in the United Kingdom with the Bradford subdivision of the aforementioned urban area having a population of 528,155.
Historically a part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, Bradford rose to prominence during the 19th century as an international centre of textile manufacture, particularly wool. It was a boomtown of the Industrial Revolution, and amongst the earliest industrialised settlements, rapidly becoming the "wool capital of the world". The area's access to a supply of coal, iron ore and soft water facilitated the growth of Bradford's manufacturing base, which, as textile manufacture grew, led to an explosion in population and was a stimulus to civic investment; Bradford has a large amount of listed Victorian architecture including the grand Italianate City Hall.
Samuel Jacob "Sam" Bradford (born November 8, 1987) is an American football quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the St. Louis Rams first overall in the 2010 NFL draft. He played college football at Oklahoma and as a redshirt sophomore, Bradford became only the second sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy.
In 2010, his first season in the NFL, Bradford set the record for most completions by a rookie in NFL history, which helped earn him the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
Bradford was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He attended Putnam City North High School in Oklahoma City, and starred in football, basketball and golf for the Putnam City North Panthers. As a senior quarterback in 2005, he threw for 2,029 yards and 17 touchdowns in 12 games. His senior year in basketball, he averaged a double-double.
Bradford was a two-to-three-star recruit and not that highly ranked among the high school class of 2006, with his highest ranking being No. 12 among only pro-style quarterbacks by recruiting source Rivals.com, behind Pat Devlin, "Juice" Williams, Josh Freeman, and being overshadowed by the likes of five-star recruits Mitch Mustain, Matthew Stafford and Tim Tebow.

The Pequots attack English settlements, and the English declare war on the Pequots -- the first declared war in America. 1637: English Puritans, with Mohegan and Narragansett allies, burn a Pequot village at Missituck (Mystic), massacring 400-700 men, women, and children. The English pursue the remaining Pequots until most are either killed or enslaved. Pequots are forbidden to use their tribal name and are subjugated to other Native Tribes allied with the English. With the help of sympathetic English leaders, they eventually are able to reestablish their own communities, which become the first Indian reservations in America.

Everything changes forever after a ship arrives from England, prospecting the region's commercial potential for the rich Sir George, who uses all his wealth and influence only for ever greater profit. When it returns, several Indians find themselves captives on board, including Squanto. The arrogant Christians consider themselves utterly superior to the 'heathen savages' and treat them as brutally as they do beasts. Squanto fights a bear in a circus, not understanding how men can be so cruel to that creature either, and manages a spectacular escape, but where must he go? He finds shelter and help in a rural monastery, where it takes his protector some effort to prevent the others considering the unknown as diabolical. In time sir George's men come looking for him most brutally, but he escapes again, now determined to find a way back home, across the ocean...

The land they choose to build on becomes known as "Plymouth". Immediately, the winter sets in and the pilgrims face the harsh effects of the weather, hunger and disease. By the first signs of spring, half of the pilgrims have died. Soon a lone Indian appears on the horizon. Against Captain Standish's wishes, John Carver and William Bradford befriend Samoset of the Wampanoag tribe. Samoset sends the English-speaking Squanto and Chief Massasoit to the pilgrims who make a peace pact. Chief Massasoit offers gifts to seal the deal. Squanto and Samoset live with the pilgrims and teach them how to live off the land. As John Carver falls ill, he makes Bradford Governor of Plymouth. After the first successful crop, Bradford proposes a "Feast of thanksgiving" to honor God and thank him for his many gifts.

"Don't Go To Bradford"...that's what they said, but what do they know! With thanks to the National Media Museum, Salts Mill, The Broadway, Bradford Council, and the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority for their help in making this video.
On July 7th 2001 the Manningham area of Bradford experienced what has been described as the worst rioting in mainland Britain for 20 years. The riots erupted after weeks of tension fomented by the activities and threats of the National Front and the BNP. Written by Neil Biswas, Bradford Riots tells the story of that night of vicious rioting from the perspective of a group of young Asian men whose lives, families and community have been defined and decimated by these events. The scripts are based on a year of intense first-hand research within Bradford's Pakistani community. Biswas looks at this community from the inside to see how it lived before mass violence blew up its streets. Bradford Riots takes individual stories and seeks to explore why this violence happened, who was to blame...
Britain First held a successful day of action in the heavily-Muslim town of Bradford, in Yorkshire. Bradford is well known as a hotbed of Islamic extremism and colonisation. Around 40 Britain First activists gave out 1,500 newspapers during the afternoon in the town. The police soon started to harass our activists issuing us with Section 12 and 14 notices. They then issued Section 35 notices which meant we were to be immediately escorted out of the area of West Yorkshire completely. After the day of action ended, some of our activists were attacked by local Muslim extremists and suffered injuries and criminal damage to their vehicles.
