Diets keep people in their heads by limiting the ability to listen to the bodies hunger cues. Diet is a 4-letter word and is defined as DEPRIVATION, INCONSISTENT, EMOTIONAL, TEMPORARY. Dieting is the best way to gain weight.
Binge eating disorder has recently been acknowledged as a mental health disorder by its inclusion in the 2013 5th addition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Health Disorders. Binge eating disordered patients are the most underserved within the eating disordered population, mostly because physicians do not understand the psychological aspects of this disorder. Physicians may tell their overweight patients to go on a diet, it’s all about willpower or just make lifestyle changes. These messages often add to the shame and disappointment the patient already feels about their inability to keep themselves normally weighted.
The diet industry is a 55 billion dollar industry and continues to grow. The media messages are about a quick fix and reaching a goal, rather than exploring the painful emotions that are causing the emotional hunger. Dieting is the best way to gain weight, When emotionally hungry, we need to attend to the emotion instead of using food to soothe us. For successful weight loss, understanding what is eating at you is way more important than calorie counting and what you are eating. One can only achieve the body they want by accepting the body they have.
The Shame Cycle
Many individuals with BED experience a great deal of shame about their bodies, food and unsuccessful dieting. Black and white thinking about food is a common phenomenon in BED. We often here BED say things such as “I am good if I adhere to my diet” and I bad if I ate bad foods”. In addition to this thinking, dieting creates deprivation and does not allow the individual to listen to the body’s hunger and fullness cues. When an individual diets (a restriction cycle) and difficult emotional state emerges, the individual still does not have alternative tools to manage the discomfort, and will turn towards food for comfort. Binge eating is a byproduct of unresolved emotions.
Addressing underlying thinking of shame and perfectionism ultimately helps the BED patient deal with feelings of unworthiness. One of the greatest phenomenon in our work with BED patients is exploring the early childhood messages they received about food and their bodies. When a baby is hungry they cry and when a baby is full, they push the bottle away. By the age of 2 or 3, most individuals in our society are taught not to listen to our bodies with messages from our caretakers which reward or restrict us with food. When we walk our patients through Eric Erikson’s stages of development, patients are usually excited to learn that they have the power to create new messages about food and their bodies. When they begin to reorganize from early developmental stages they tend to find more connection with others rather than food. This exercise often creates more space for authenticity and self-love.

Jeanne Phillips
Jeanne Phillips (/ˈdʒini ˈfɪlɪps/; born 1942), also known as Abigail Van Buren, is an American advice columnist who writes the advice column Dear Abby. She is the daughter of Pauline Esther "Popo" Phillips, who founded Dear Abby in 1956, and her husband, Morton Phillips.
In a Dear Abby column on December 12, 2000, Pauline introduced Jeanne as co-creator of Dear Abby. They began to share the byline Abigail Van Buren and both were pictured with the column. Jeanne officially assumed the mantle of Dear Abby in August 2002, when the Phillips family made the announcement that Pauline had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Jeanne continues to write under the pen name "Abigail Van Buren".
Jeanne Phillips' Dear Abby column is syndicated in about 1,400 newspapers in the U.S. with a combined circulation of more than 110 million. Dear Abby's website receives about 10,000 letters per week, seeking advice on a large variety of personal matters.

Anything Goes
Anything Goes is a musical with music and lyrics by Cole Porter. The original book was a collaborative effort by Guy Bolton and P.G. Wodehouse, heavily revised by the team of Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse. The story concerns madcap antics aboard an ocean liner bound from New York to London. Billy Crocker is a stowaway in love with heiress Hope Harcourt, who is engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Nightclub singer Reno Sweeney and Public Enemy #13 Moonface Martin aid Billy in his quest to win Hope. The musical introduced such songs as "Anything Goes", "You're the Top", and "I Get a Kick Out of You."
Since its 1934 debut at the Alvin Theatre (now known as the Neil Simon Theatre) on Broadway, the musical has been revived several times in the United States and Britain and has been filmed twice. The musical has long been a popular choice for school and community productions.

Binge eating disorder has recently been acknowledged as a mental health disorder by its inclusion in the 2013 5th addition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Health Disorders. Binge eating disordered patients are the most underserved within the eating disordered population, mostly because physicians do not understand the psychological aspects of this disorder. Physicians may tell their overweight patients to go on a diet, it’s all about willpower or just make lifestyle changes. These messages often add to the shame and disappointment the patient already feels about their inability to keep themselves normally weighted.
The diet industry is a 55 billion dollar industry and continues to grow. The media messages are about a quick fix and reaching a goal, rather than exploring the painful emotions that are causing the emotional hunger. Dieting is the best way to gain weight, When emotionally hungry, we need to attend to the emotion instead of using food to soothe us. For successful weight loss, understanding what is eating at you is way more important than calorie counting and what you are eating. One can only achieve the body they want by accepting the body they have.
The Shame Cycle
Many individuals with BED experience a great deal of shame about their bodies, food and unsuccessful dieting. Black and white thinking about food is a common phenomenon in BED. We often here BED say things such as “I am good if I adhere to my diet” and I bad if I ate bad foods”. In addition to this thinking, dieting creates deprivation and does not allow the individual to listen to the body’s hunger and fullness cues. When an individual diets (a restriction cycle) and difficult emotional state emerges, the individual still does not have alternative tools to manage the discomfort, and will turn towards food for comfort. Binge eating is a byproduct of unresolved emotions.
Addressing underlying thinking of shame and perfectionism ultimately helps the BED patient deal with feelings of unworthiness. One of the greatest phenomenon in our work with BED patients is exploring the early childhood messages they received about food and their bodies. When a baby is hungry they cry and when a baby is full, they push the bottle away. By the age of 2 or 3, most individuals in our society are taught not to listen to our bodies with messages from our caretakers which reward or restrict us with food. When we walk our patients through Eric Erikson’s stages of development, patients are usually excited to learn that they have the power to create new messages about food and their bodies. When they begin to reorganize from early developmental stages they tend to find more connection with others rather than food. This exercise often creates more space for authenticity and self-love.

In this 2 part video, Jeanne Phillips, M.A., CPC and Ilene Smith, M.A., CPC discuss why diets do not work and the importance of making peace with mind body and food. Diets keep people in their heads by limiting the ability to listen to the bodies hunger cues. Diet is a 4-letter word and is defined as DEPRIVATION, INCONSISTENT, EMOTIONAL, TEMPORARY. Dieting is the best way to gain weight.
Binge eating disorder has recently been acknowledged as a mental health disorder by its inclusion in the 2013 5th addition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Health Disorders. Binge eating disordered patients are the most underserved within the eating disordered population, mostly because physicians do not understand the psychological aspects of this disorder. Physicians may tell their overweight patients to go on a diet, it’s all about willpower or just make lifestyle changes. These messages often add to the shame and disappointment the patient already feels about their inability to keep themselves normally weighted.
The diet industry is a 55 billion dollar industry and continues to grow. The media messages are about a quick fix and reaching a goal, rather than exploring the painful emotions that are causing the emotional hunger. Dieting is the best way to gain weight, When emotionally hungry, we need to attend to the emotion instead of using food to soothe us. For successful weight loss, understanding what is eating at you is way more important than calorie counting and what you are eating. One can only achieve the body they want by accepting the body they have.
The Shame Cycle
Many individuals with BED experience a great deal of shame about their bodies, food and unsuccessful dieting. Black and white thinking about food is a common phenomenon in BED. We often here BED say things such as “I am good if I adhere to my diet” and I bad if I ate bad foods”. In addition to this thinking, dieting creates deprivation and does not allow the individual to listen to the body’s hunger and fullness cues. When an individual diets (a restriction cycle) and difficult emotional state emerges, the individual still does not have alternative tools to manage the discomfort, and will turn towards food for comfort. Binge eating is a byproduct of unresolved emotions.
Addressing underlying thinking of shame and perfectionism ultimately helps the BED patient deal with feelings of unworthiness. One of the greatest phenomenon in our work with BED patients is exploring the early childhood messages they received about food and their bodies. When a baby is hungry they cry and when a baby is full, they push the bottle away. By the age of 2 or 3, most individuals in our society are taught not to listen to our bodies with messages from our caretakers which reward or restrict us with food. When we walk our patients through Eric Erikson’s stages of development, patients are usually excited to learn that they have the power to create new messages about food and their bodies. When they begin to reorganize from early developmental stages they tend to find more connection with others rather than food. This exercise often creates more space for authenticity and self-love.

Symposium on Human Trafficking
Dallas area community leaders and several faith-based groups joined on April 18 in an effort to expose the issue of human trafficking in Dallas and seek solutions to the growing problem. The coalition led by the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Dallas, the American Friends of the Anglican Centre Rome, and the Dallas Morning News sponsored a symposium, #StopSlaveryDallas at Saint Michael. The Tattered Dress (1957)
Jeff Chandler plays big-city lawyer James Gordon Blane, who heads to a small Nevada town to defend a playboy (Phillip Reed) accused of murder. Blane wins the case, but is then himself charged with accepting bribes. The man behind this accusation is vindictive town sheriff Nick Hoak (Jack Carson), who controls all illegal activities in the area. When Blane's legman Billy Giles ends up dead, the lawyer deduces that Hoak was also behind the killing for which the playboy was blamed. Blane struggles to defend his reputation in court while his wife (Jeanne Crain) attempts to mount evidence against Sheriff Hoak. Chapter 3: Phillip Kodel and Fannah settle down as sailors before Phillip is born. Due to Fannah's good head for business, her company flourishes, and eventually, Phillip also becomes a sailor, taking Azos with him. During a voyage, the ship he is on is attacked by beasts, and the dragon halfling Vappula reveals himself. Vappula knocks Phillip overboard, then flies in search of a different magic sword. Phillip is washed ashore on the island of Paley, where he meets Jeanne and Vilherm. Jeanne keeps her identity a secret for now, merely telling Phillip the way to the village. Phillip travels the way Jeanne suggested, planning to either wait for a ship back to Kadeli, for his captain to find him, or else to settle down in the village. Jeff Chandler plays big-city lawyer James Gordon Blane, who heads to a small Nevada town to defend a playboy (Phillip Reed) accused of murder. Blane wins the case, but is then himself charged with accepting bribes. The man behind this accusation is vindictive town sheriff Nick Hoak (Jack Carson), who controls all illegal activities in the area. When Blane's legman Billy Giles ends up dead, the lawyer deduces that Hoak was also behind the killing for which the playboy was blamed. Blane struggles to defend his reputation in court while his wife (Jeanne Crain) attempts to mount evidence against Sheriff Hoak. Despite its stellar cast and slick direction (by Jack Arnold), The Tattered Dress comes across as cheap and tawdry -- befitting its seedy subject matter.

Chapter 3: Phillip
Kodel and Fannah settle down as sailors before Phillip is born. Due to Fannah's good head for business, her company flourishes, and eventually, Phillip also becomes a sailor, taking Azos with him. During a voyage, the ship he is on is attacked by beasts, and the dragon halfling Vappula reveals himself. Vappula knocks Phillip overboard, then flies in search of a different magic sword. Phillip is washed ashore on the island of Paley, where he meets Jeanne and Vilherm. Jeanne keeps her identity a secret for now, merely telling Phillip the way to the village.
Phillip travels the way Jeanne suggested, planning to either wait for a ship back to Kadeli, for his captain to find him, or else to settle down in the village. The village is attacked, however, by Vappula's forces. Phillip then journeys to the ruins where he was told a magic sword resides. On the way, however, he encounters Vappula, who is searching for the same thing. Vappula unleashes the dragon accompanying him to attack Phillip, in the hopes of claiming Azos. Phillip manages to defeat the dragon, and Vappula subsequently flees.
Phillip then arrives at the Paley ruins, where he encounters, then defeats the guardian, thus acquiring the sword Kadum. As he exits the ruins, he finds the captain of his ship, Vilherm, and Jeanne waiting at the entrance for him. Jeanne asks to borrow one of the swords, but cannot, as Phillip has been chosen by both Azos and Kadum. Phillip, however, helps Jeanne end the strife in her kingdom that was caused by demons, and the two eventually marry.
Vappula, meanwhile, meets with his fellow minions, Halfas and Krassel. Both are displeased that he lost to a Dragon Valor, stating that his brawn was his only redeeming feature. As such, Vappula is executed by Halfas.
As time passes, the sword Azos is stolen, and Mihael and Anna are born.
