After taking tremendous heat Saturday over his toxic reaction to the parents of the late Captain Humayun Khan, a Muslim soldier who was killed in Iraq, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s campaign released a statement overnight attempting something resembling damage control. The statement itself attempted to reset Trump’s initial reaction to the Khans, without apologizing, and the campaign also released what it called the “Full Transcript of Khizr Khan Answer,” which contained precisely zero differences from the clips ABC News put out.
Trump’s statement did contain belated praise for Captain Khan, and an expression of empathy for his parents:
Captain Humayun Khan was a hero to our country and we should honor all who have made the ultimate sacrifice to keep our country safe. The real problem here are the radical Islamic terrorists who killed him, and the efforts of these radicals to enter our country to do us further harm. Given the state of the world today, we have to know everything about those looking to enter our country, and given the state of chaos in some of these countries, that is impossible. While I feel deeply for the loss of his son, Mr. Khan who has never met me, has no right to stand in front of millions of people and claim I have never read the Constitution, (which is false) and say many other inaccurate things. If I become President, I will make America safe again.
The balance of the statement spent three paragraphs attacking Hillary Clinton.

Washington (CNN)Donald Trump's criticism about the Muslim parents of a slain American soldier has generated -- once again -- a backlash within his own party.
Just 100 days from the election, Trump has responded in his standard fashion -- dig in, claim he's being treated unfairly and attack back.
But the swift condemnation of Trump's response raises questions about whether this controversy is different from the ones that came before it.
It certainly isn't going away - Khizr and Ghazala Khan appeared for a lengthy joint interview on CNN's "New Day" on Monday where Khizr accused Trump of "ignorance and arrogance."
Khan also said he's received an outpouring of support for speaking out against the GOP presidential candidate, including from many Republicans. And he warned that Trump's attacks on Muslims are boosting terror recruitment. Khan said it is good Muslims who are the ones who can help stop terror and make American safer.
"We are the solution to terrorism," Khan said on CNN Monday.
Trump tweeted during the interview that the issue was not the Khans, it was stopping the spread of radical Islamic terrorism.

This time, attacks from the Republican presidential nominee on the parents of a soldier who died defending America have put new pressure on GOP leaders to decide whether they will continue to stand by him. Already, the party's leaders in the House and the Senate have distanced themselves from Trump's remarks, and other Republican figures are attacking their nominee forcefully.
Sen. John McCain issue a very personal statement Mondaay blasting Trump's comments about the Khans and paying homage to their son Humayun's sacrifice. McCain noted that his son also served in the Iraq War and the McCains have been serving in the US military for hundreds of years.
"It is time for Donald Trump to set the example for our country and the future of the Republican Party," McCain said. "While our Party has bestowed upon him the nomination, it is not accompanied by unfettered license to defame those who are the best among us.
"Lastly, I'd like to say to Mr. and Mrs. Khan: thank you for immigrating to America. We're a better country because of you. And you are certainly right; your son was the best of America, and the memory of his sacrifice will make us a better nation -- and he will never be forgotten."
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina, said in a statement: "This is going to a place where we've never gone before, to push back against the families of the fallen. There used to be some things that were sacred in American politics -- that you don't do -- like

Humayun
Humayun (Persian: نصیر الدین محمد همایون; Turkish: Hümayûn; OS 7 March 1508 – OS 27 January 1556) was the second Mughal Emperor who ruled over territory in what is now Afghanistan, Pakistan, and parts of northern India from 1531–1540 and again from 1555–1556. Like his father, Babur, he lost his kingdom early, but regained it with the aid of the Safavid dynasty of Persia, with additional territory. At the time of his death in 1556, the Mughal Empire spanned almost one million square kilometers.
Humayun succeeded his father in December 1530, as ruler of the Mughal territories in the Indian subcontinent. At the age of 23, Humayun was an inexperienced ruler when he came to power. His half-brother Kamran Mirza inherited Kabul and Lahore, the northernmost parts of their father's empire. Mirza was to become a bitter rival of Humayun.
Humayun lost Mughal territories to the Pashtun noble, Sher Shah Suri, and, with Persian (Safavid) aid, regained them 15 years later. Humayun's return from Persia was accompanied by a large retinue of Persian noblemen and signaled an important change in Mughal court culture. The Central Asian origins of the dynasty were largely overshadowed by the influences of Persian art, architecture, language and literature. There are many stone carvings and thousands of Persian manuscripts in India dating from the time of Humayun.

Humayun Khan
Dr. Humayun Khan is a former High Commissioner from Pakistan to India and United Kingdom. Presently he is serving as the Chairman of Institute of Rural Management (IRM).
Family and education
He hails from Mardan District, North-West Frontier Province of Pakistan. He is the son of the late K.B. Mohd. Safdar Khan of Amazo Garhi, former Distt. & Sessions Judge, Peshawar and Begum Mumtaz Safdar, former Member of the West Pakistan Assembly. He is married to the grand daughter of the late Qazi Ataullah, former Minister in the Cabinets of Dr. Khan Sahib before the independence of Pakistan in 1947. One of her aunts was married to Abdul Ali Khan, youngest son of Bacha Khan.
Khan was educated at the prestigious Bishop Cotton School in Simla, India and later at Edwardes College Peshawar and at Trinity College, Cambridge. He holds an honours degree and an MA from Cambridge University. He was called to the Bar from Lincoln's Inn, London in 1954. Later, he earned another MA and a Doctorate from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.

Donald John Trump, Sr. (born June 14, 1946) is an American businessperson and media personality. He is the chairman and president of The Trump Organization and the founder of Trump Entertainment Resorts. Captain Humayun Khan was a hero to our country and we should honor all who have made the ultimate sacrifice to keep our country safe. Given the state of the world today, we have to know everything about those looking to enter our country, and given the state of chaos in some of these countries, that is impossible. While I feel deeply for the loss of his son, Mr. Khan who has never met me, has no right to stand in front of millions of people and claim I have never read the Constitution, (which is false) and say many other inaccurate things. If I become President, I will make America safe again.

Khan also said he's received an outpouring of support for speaking out against the GOP presidential candidate, including from many Republicans. And he warned that Trump's attacks on Muslims are boosting terror recruitment. Khan said it is good Muslims who are the ones who can help stop terror and make American safer.
"We are the solution to terrorism," Khan said on CNN Monday.
Trump tweeted during the interview that the issue was not the Khans, it was stopping the spread of radical Islamic terrorism.

This time, attacks from the Republican presidential nominee on the parents of a soldier who died defending America have put new pressure on GOP leaders to decide whether they will continue to stand by him. Already, the party's leaders in the House and the Senate have distanced themselves from Trump's remarks, and other Republican figures are attacking their nominee forcefully.
Sen. John McCain issue a very personal statement Mondaay blasting Trump's comments about the Khans and paying homage to their son Humayun's sacrifice. McCain noted that his son also served in the Iraq War and the McCains have been serving in the US military for hundreds of years.
"It is time for Donald Trump to set the example for our country and the future of the Republican Party," McCain said. "While our Party has bestowed upon him the nomination, it is not accompanied by unfettered license to defame those who are the best among us.
"Lastly, I'd like to say to Mr. and Mrs. Khan: thank you for immigrating to America. We're a better country because of you. And you are certainly right; your son was the best of America, and the memory of his sacrifice will make us a better nation -- and he will never be forgotten."
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina, said in a statement: "This is going to a place where we've never gone before, to push back against the families of the fallen. There used to be some things that were sacred in American politics -- that you don't do -- like

Hillary Clinton has served as Secretary of State, Senator from New York, First Lady of the United States, First Lady of Arkansas, a practicing lawyer and law professor, activist, and volunteer, but the first things her friends and family will tell you is that she’s never forgotten where she came from or who she’s been fighting for throughout her life. Hillary was then elected to the U.S. Senate, becoming the first woman senator from New York. She repeatedly worked across the aisle to get things done, including working alongside Republicans after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. When Congress wouldn't do enough for rural areas and small towns, Hillary didn’t back down. She launched innovative partnerships with the tech industry and provided support to local colleges and small businesses. When President Obama asked Hillary to serve as his secretary of state, she answered the call to public service once again.
