Hooper Atchley (April 30, 1887 – November 17, 1943) was an American film actor. Born Lemuel Hooper Atchley in Ebenezer, Marion County, Tennessee, he appeared in 214 films between 1929 and 1944 and is known for his appearance as the inconsiderate father in the Our Gang film Birthday Blues (1932).
Atchley shot himself on November 17, 1943, aged 56, in Hollywood.
Gun Justice (1933) Ken Maynard, Cecilia Parker, Hooper Atchley Wanting the Lance ranch, Burkett kills Lance and brings in an imposter to pose as the heir Ken Lance. Ken learns of the plan, captures the imposter, and arrives posing as himself. In an ensuing gunfight a man is killed and Ken is in trouble when not only is he accused of the murder, but the imposter escapes and convinces the Sheriff he's the real Ken Lance.

In the initial entry in a quartet of detective thrillers based on "James Lee Wong" series in Collier's Magazine, found the clever sleuth investigating the murder of a chemical manufacturer, only to uncover an international spy ring out to obtain the formula for a deadly, poison gas. Release date: October 5, 1938. Reviews for the film were positive. Critic William Boehnel of the New York World-Telegram noted that the film was "Well-knit, cleverly motivated and suspenseful cinema." Irene Thirer of the the New York Post added that MR. WONG, DETECTIVE had "suspense and thrills."
