Tulapur is a village in Pune district, Maharashtra, India associated with the last moments of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, Son of Chhatrapati Shivaji.
History
Captured at Sangameshwar, close to Tulapur, Chhatrapati Sambhaji was executed at Tulapur by Aurangzeb due to his fight and bravery against the latter.He was hacked, and the pieces thrown into the river Bhima. However, a community that lived on the banks of the river retrieved the pieces of his body, and sewed them together. This community is to this day known as "Shewale" (literally "those that sewed"). In defiance of the Mughal Emperor's orders, his mortal remains were then cremated by the brave villagers of Vadhu, a village not far from Tulapur. Along with Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, his poet-friend Kavi Kalash was killed by Aurangzeb at the same place.
Geography
Tulapur is about 40 Kilometres north east of Pune. It is situated at the confluence of the Bhima river and the Indrayani River and was originally known as 'Nagargaon'. The Sangameshwar temple built on the banks of the confluence is worth a visit. The Samādhi at Vadhu was unattended to until recently. It is now being renovated. Kavi Kalash's samadhi too is present at Vadhu.

Jagathy Sreekumar
Sreekumar Achary (born 5 January 1951), better known by his stage name Jagathy Sreekumar, is an Indian film actor known for his work in Malayalam cinema. He is popular mainly for his comedy roles. He has also directed two films and has written screenplays for two films.
Life
Sreekumar was born on 5 January 1951 in Jagathy, Thiruvananthapuram. He is the son of Malayalam dramatist and writer Jagathy N. K. Achary (1924–1997) (also fondly known as Jagathy) and his wife Prasanna from the famed Edavancaud family of Mavelikkara. N. K. Achary was an All India Radio employee. He has two brothers, Krishnakumar and Jameela Murali (Step brother) and a sister, Sugadamma (Step sister). Even from childhood, Jagathy Sreekumar had the dream of becoming an actor. Jagathy attended the Model School in Trivandrum, and graduated with a bachelor's degree from Mar Ivanios College, Trivandrum. After college he worked as a Medical Representative and later became an actor.
Jagathy married Mallika Sukumaran in 1976 and divorced in 1979. He later married Shobha in 1984. They have a son, Rajkumar, and a daughter, Parvathy. He also has a daughter Sreelakshmi with his third wife Kala.

The closest village is Peth Shahpur. One can walk along entire perimeter of 2km of fort.
History:
This fort was forcibly taken over into his kingdom by Chhatrapati Shivaji along with the forts of Lohagad, Visapur, Tung and Tikona in 1657. On March 11, 1818, Colonel Prother tried to take over this fort but even after a prolonged siege could not make any headway. Finally on 14 March, by igniting the stored ammunition by means of a loose cannonball he succeeded and this fort went to the British.
