Jamie Cullum, Rowwen Heze, Spandau Ballet... De opnames voor 'Top 2000 In Concert 2009' waren knallend.
Heen
Al op de heenreis in de trein zit de stemming er goed in. Top 2009 In Concert-gangers pik je er zo uit: ze zijn feestelijk gekleed, zelden alleen en je ziet aan alles dat ze er zin in hebben. 'Spandau Ballet, daar heb ik zin in!' 'Ah nee, die zijn oud, Ruth Jackott, dat is pas een lekker ding!' Er wordt hartelijk gelachen.
HMH
De Heineken Music Hall is bij binnenkomst groot als altijd, maar anders dan bij sommige 'gewone' concerten is de sfeer intiem en vooral: gezellig! De ruimte heeft met alle mooi geklede en enthousiaste mensen meer weg van een Grand Café op oudejaarsavond dan van een concerthal. Wel een sjiek Grand Café overigens, want het podium is prachtig aangekleed, lange witte doeken zijn achter en boven het podium gedrapeerd, de verlichting doet de rest. En dan: in welk café zou je op één avond Guus Meeuwis, Acda en de Munnik, en Boudewijn de Groot tegen het lijf kunnen lopen?
Concert
Het publiek bruist, het bier schuimt. Jeroen van der Boom knalt en gaat op de knieën. Wat een showman. Nick en Simon klinken als zilv'ren klokjes. De band van Rowwen Hèze bestaat volgend jaar 25 jaar, Jack en Tren brachten hun karakteristieke geluid. Guus Meeuwis is een goede host en de artiesten en het publiek weten sfeer te brengen én te houden. Als hoogtepunten komen zeker in aanmerking Spandau Ballet en Jamie Cullum. Al waren ook de nieuwe gezichten van Björn Again niet te versmaden en sloot Lee Towers waardig af!
Kritiek
Sommigen vonden het in Zoetermeer gezelliger, in HMH moet je in het begin de keus maken de hele avond staan of de hele avond zitten. Radio2 trekt een iets ouder publiek en langs het podium staan is kei leuk, echter de hele avond staan is te veel gevraagd voor de benen van deze grijze duiven. Zitplaatsen in HMH zijn op het balcon en in Zoetermeer kun je dichterbij zitten. De staconcerten zijn voor de twintigers tot en met veertigers. Het ombouwen kost tijd en dan is het fijn als de presentator niet alleen zijn zegje doet voor de TV-opnamen maar ook de sfeer van de bijeenkomst er in houdt.
En terug
Op de weg terug zijn de mensen zo mogelijk nog uitgelatener dan op de heenweg. De trein is wat vertraagd. Niemand lijkt het erg te vinden. De snoepautomaat op het perron vindt gretig aftrek, er wordt nagepraat en opvallend veel gelachen. 'Die zanger van Spandau Ballet kan er nog wel wat van he!' 'Haha, ja... maar Jeroen blijft een topper hoor!'

Shaffy
Al eerder maakte Radio2 bekend dat Bohemian Rhapsody van Queen bovenaan de lijst is geëindigd. Hotel California van The Eagles staat op de tweede plaats en Avond van Boudewijn de Groot is derde geworden. Ramses Shaffy staat drie keer in de top 10: Pastorale (6), Zing, vecht, huil, bid, lach, werk en bewonder (7) en Laat me (10).
Nieuw binnen
Net buiten de top 10 staat de hoogste nieuwe in de Radio2 Top 2009: Viva la Vida van Coldplay op nummer 11. In totaal staan er 217 songs voor het eerst in de Radio2 Top 2009.
2009
Maar liefst 17 songs komen uit 2009, waaronder: Sweet Goodbyes van Krezip (97), Magnificent van U2 (330), Sorry van Kyteman (1005), Three Days In A Row van Anouk (1242) en Haus am See van Peter Fox (1730).
Michael Jackson
The Beatles zijn met 52 songs wederom de hofleveranciers van de lijst. Opvallend veel noteringen zijn er dit jaar ook voor Michael Jackson (27). Nederlandse acts die ruim scoren zijn o.a. Marco Borsato, Bløf en de Golden Earring.
Jaren 70
Het grootste aandeel in de lijst leveren de liedjes uit de jaren 70, 32% komt uit dat decennium. De jaren 80 zijn goed voor bijna 24%, de jaren 60 voor 18% en de jaren 90 voor 13%. Ruim 12% komt uit het eerste decennium van deze eeuw.

This song is a Romeo & Juliet-style love story set in a troubled Northern Ireland. A boy and a girl, one a Catholic and one a Protestant, betray their families and their upbringing to meet on the bomb sites and the no-man's land between divided communities. The setting is given away by the drum and pipe marching music, so reminiscent of the parades mentioned in the second chorus. Like Shakespeare's play, there is a tragic ending. The "Hearts go to their graves," but it is not clear whether this refers metaphorically to the end of the affair or a suicide pact.

Grenada (
i/ɡrᵻˈneɪdə/; French: La Grenade) is an island country consisting of Grenada itself and six smaller islands at the southern end of the Grenadines in the southeastern Caribbean Sea. Grenada is located northwest of Trinidad and Tobago, northeast of Venezuela, and southwest of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Grenada is also known as the "Island of Spice" because of the production of nutmeg and mace crops, of which it is one of the world's largest exporters. Its size is 344 square kilometres (133 sq mi), with an estimated population of 110,000. Its capital is St. George's. The national bird of Grenada is the critically endangered Grenada dove.
History
French colony (1649–1763)
In 1649 a French expedition of 203 men from Martinique led by Jacques du Parquet founded a permanent settlement on Grenada. Within months this led to conflict with the local islanders which lasted until 1654 when the island was completely subjugated by the French. Those indigenous islanders who survived either left for neighbouring islands or retreated to remoter parts of Grenada where they were marginalised—the last distinct communities disappeared during the 1700s.

The Barricades
The Barricades (Latvian: Barikādes) were a series of confrontations between Latvia and forces loyal to the Soviet Union in January 1991 which took place mainly in Riga. The events are named for the popular effort of building and protecting barricades from 13 January until about 27 January. Latvia, which had declared restoration of independence from the Soviet Union a year earlier, anticipated that Soviet Union might attempt to regain control over the country by force. After attacks by the Soviet OMON on Riga in early January, the government called on people to build barricades for protection of possible targets (mainly in the capital city of Riga and nearby Ulbroka, as well as Kuldīga and Liepāja). Six people were killed in further attacks, several were wounded in shootings or beaten by OMON. Most victims were shot during the Soviet attack on the Latvian Ministry of the Interior on January 20. One other person died in a building accident reinforcing the barricades. Casualties among Soviet loyalists are considered likely, but the exact number remains unknown. A total of 15,611 people have registered as having been participants of the Barricades.

Spandau Ballet - Through The Barricades (Lyrics)
This song is a Romeo & Juliet-style love story set in a troubled Northern Ireland. A boy and a girl, one a Catholic and one a Protestant, betray their families and their upbringing to meet on the bomb sites and the no-man's land between divided communities. The setting is given away by the drum and pipe marching music, so reminiscent of the parades mentioned in the second chorus. Like Shakespeare's play, there is a tragic ending. Heen
Al op de heenreis in de trein zit de stemming er goed in. Top 2009 In Concert-gangers pik je er zo uit: ze zijn feestelijk gekleed, zelden alleen en je ziet aan alles dat ze er zin in hebben. 'Spandau Ballet, daar heb ik zin in!' 'Ah nee, die zijn oud, Ruth Jackott, dat is pas een lekker ding!' Er wordt hartelijk gelachen.
HMH
De Heineken Music Hall is bij binnenkomst groot als altijd, maar anders dan bij sommige 'gewone' concerten is de sfeer intiem en vooral: gezellig! De ruimte heeft met alle mooi geklede en enthousiaste mensen meer weg van een Grand Café op oudejaarsavond dan van een concerthal. Wel een sjiek Grand Café overigens, want het podium is prachtig aangekleed, lange witte doeken zijn achter en boven het podium gedrapeerd, de verlichting doet de rest. En dan: in welk café zou je op één avond Guus Meeuwis, Acda en de Munnik, en Boudewijn de Groot tegen het lijf kunnen lopen?
Concert
Het publiek bruist, het bier schuimt. Jeroen van der Boom knalt en gaat op de knieën. Wat een showman. Nick en Simon klinken als zilv'ren klokjes. De band van Rowwen Hèze bestaat volgend jaar 25 jaar, Jack en Tren brachten hun karakteristieke geluid. Guus Meeuwis is een goede host en de artiesten en het publiek weten sfeer te brengen én te houden. Als hoogtepunten komen zeker in aanmerking Spandau Ballet en Jamie Cullum. Al waren ook de nieuwe gezichten van Björn Again niet te versmaden en sloot Lee Towers waardig af!
Kritiek
Sommigen vonden het in Zoetermeer gezelliger, in HMH moet je in het begin de keus maken de hele avond staan of de hele avond zitten. Radio2 trekt een iets ouder publiek en langs het podium staan is kei leuk, echter de hele avond staan is te veel gevraagd voor de benen van deze grijze duiven. Zitplaatsen in HMH zijn op het balcon en in Zoetermeer kun je dichterbij zitten. De staconcerten zijn voor de twintigers tot en met veertigers. Het ombouwen kost tijd en dan is het fijn als de presentator niet alleen zijn zegje doet voor de TV-opnamen maar ook de sfeer van de bijeenkomst er in houdt.
En terug
Op de weg terug zijn de mensen zo mogelijk nog uitgelatener dan op de heenweg. De trein is wat vertraagd. Niemand lijkt het erg te vinden. De snoepautomaat op het perron vindt gretig aftrek, er wordt nagepraat en opvallend veel gelachen. 'Die zanger van Spandau Ballet kan er nog wel wat van he!' 'Haha, ja... maar Jeroen blijft een topper hoor!'

Hotel California van The Eagles staat op de tweede plaats en Avond van Boudewijn de Groot is derde geworden. Ramses Shaffy staat drie keer in de top 10: Pastorale (6), Zing, vecht, huil, bid, lach, werk en bewonder (7) en Laat me (10).

Net buiten de top 10 staat de hoogste nieuwe in de Radio2 Top 2009: Viva la Vida van Coldplay op nummer 11. In totaal staan er 217 songs voor het eerst in de Radio2 Top 2009.

Maar liefst 17 songs komen uit 2009, waaronder: Sweet Goodbyes van Krezip (97), Magnificent van U2 (330), Sorry van Kyteman (1005), Three Days In A Row van Anouk (1242) en Haus am See van Peter Fox (1730).

The Beatles zijn met 52 songs wederom de hofleveranciers van de lijst. Opvallend veel noteringen zijn er dit jaar ook voor Michael Jackson (27). Nederlandse acts die ruim scoren zijn o.a. Marco Borsato, Bløf en de Golden Earring.

Het grootste aandeel in de lijst leveren de liedjes uit de jaren 70, 32% komt uit dat decennium. De jaren 80 zijn goed voor bijna 24%, de jaren 60 voor 18% en de jaren 90 voor 13%. Ruim 12% komt uit het eerste decennium van deze eeuw.

A boy and a girl, one a Catholic and one a Protestant, betray their families and their upbringing to meet on the bomb sites and the no-man's land between divided communities. The setting is given away by the drum and pipe marching music, so reminiscent of the parades mentioned in the second chorus. Like Shakespeare's play, there is a tragic ending. The "Hearts go to their graves," but it is not clear whether this refers metaphorically to the end of the affair or a suicide pact.

The island was already inhabited by the Carib Indians, who had migrated from the South American mainland, killing or enslaving the peaceful Arawaks who were already inhabitants there. The Amerindians called their island Camerhogue, but Columbus renamed it Concepción. The island was already inhabited by the Carib Indians, who had migrated from the South American mainland, killing or enslaving the peaceful Arawaks who were already inhabitants there. The Amerindians called their island Camerhogue, but Columbus renamed it Concepción. However, travelling Spanish sailors found its lush green hills so evocative of Andalusia that they rejected this name in favor of Granada.
Over the centuries, although control of the island passed from France to Britain (and briefly back to France again), the name endured with just the slightest of alterations, changing from "Granada" to "La Grenade" to "Grenada".
The French were the first to settle and travel to Grenada. Legend holds that in 1652 the last of the defending Caribs rather than be ruled by the French, threw themselves into the sea from a spot that was christened Le Morne des Sauteurs, and is known today as Leapers' Hill and Carib's Leap.
Exploited first for indigo (hence the name of an area "True Blue"), and later for sugar production, the island prospered and, like many others in the Caribbean, attracted the attention of the British. Captured by Admiral George Rodney in 1762, near the end of the European Seven Years' War (1756-63), Grenada reverted to French rule from 1779 until 1783 when the island was restored to Britain by the Treaty of Versailles.
The inhabitants' loyalties remained divided between the two European powers for many years, as illustrated by Fedon's Rebellion of 1795. In the course of this violent episode, a group of rebels under the command of the mulatto General Julien Fedon, and inspired by the rhetoric of the French Revolution wreaked havoc on the island and its British settlers in an unsuccessful attempt to reunite with France.

Caribbean Moments shows a different side to the Caribbean. Everyone visualises sand, sunshine and palm trees – but hardly anyone really discovers what lies behind them. In fact an unbelievable variety of cultures, music and religions has developed as a result of the different influences – African, Indian, English, French and authentically Caribbean.
This documentary series attempts to portray the people - be they the Rastas, who have a lot to say about their mission, the Amerindians in Trinidad, who still have their own Queen, or the Black Caribs – a mixture of escaped slaves and Caribs.
In addition, of course, there’s a huge variety of music: steelpan, parang, calypso, soca and chutney soca shape Trinidad, whilst other islands are especially scenically beautiful, such as Dominica, which is actually a single rain forest and which seduces with its abundant vegetation. Here too are the true Caribs, who occupy themselves with traditional boat building in the same way as their ancestors did centuries ago.
The films were produced in 6 parts to create a documentary series that shows what lies beneath the surface.

Since the 7th century B.C., Iberians, Romans and West Goths had settled in Granada but it was during the Arab rule that the city first gained prominence. Sixty thousand Muslims once lived in the old Moorish city complex on the hill above the ancient district of Albaicin.
Granada has a truly unique and captivating atmosphere, one that has inspired poets, musicians and countless travelers from all over the world. A lively and contemporary university city, at the same time it is the guardian of an historic past that draws in a multitude of tourists keen to experience its special charm.
In the narrow valleys between the Alhambra and Albaicin Hills, the gentle River Darro makes its age-old journey toward the city centre. The houses along the riverside have been restored to a high standard with typical wooden balconies, decorated façades and barred windows. The Banos Arabes are ancient Arab baths that date back to the 11th century.
The mighty La Alcazaba Fortress rises up from the top of a hill and is separated from the rest of the Alhambra by huge walls. The city extends to the plains below and in the background are the snow-covered mountain peaks of the Sierra Nevada. The huge Torre De La Vela (Watchtower) is the highest point of the complex and was the first building of the Nasrids Dynasty.
The Alhambra served as military headquarters, administrative centre and royal residence until the expulsion of the Moors by Christian militia. The interior of the Alhambra is like a hidden treasure that lies expectantly beyond plain red walls, waiting to be discovered. The most famous of the courtyards is the Lion Yard of which the well and ornate arcades took several years to complete.
The fiery south of Spain is a fantasy world situated between Europe and Africa. A land of passion and ancient culture, Granada is its shining pearl set amid the evocative landscape of Andalusia.
