Mount Lycabettus (/ˌlaɪkəˈbɛtəs/), also known as Lycabettos, Lykabettos or Lykavittos (Greek: Λυκαβηττός, pronounced [likaviˈtos]), is a Cretaceous limestone hill in Athens, Greece at 300 meters (908 feet) above sea level. Pine trees cover its base, and at its two peaks are the 19th century Chapel of St. George, a theatre, and a restaurant.
The hill is a tourist destination and can be ascended by the Lycabettus Funicular, a funicular railway which climbs the hill from a lower terminus at Kolonaki (The railway station can be found at Aristippou street). Lycabettus appears in various legends. Popular stories suggest it was once the refuge of wolves, (lycos in Greek), which is possibly the origin of its name (means "the one [the hill] that is walked by wolves"). Mythologically, Lycabettus is credited to Athena, who created it when she dropped a mountain she had been carrying from Pallene for the construction of the Acropolis after the box holding Erichthonius was opened.

Realisation : 27-06-2010 Lykavittos Hill (sometimes referred to as Lycabettos or Lykabettos) is the highest point in Athens, rising 910 feet above the city. Because of its height, it is a landmark visible from almost every part of the capital . Its name reflects a popular belief that the hill was inhabited by wolves. Another legend explains that Lykavittos hill appeared when Athena accidentally dropped a large rock she was going to use for the construction of the Acropolis. Despite these interesting legends, Lykavittos did not attract the attention of classical authors and historians. However, the majestic peak is an important tourist destination. A small whitewashed chapel of St. George, erected in the 19th century on the site of a Byzantine church of Prophet Elijah , crowns the top...

One of the best places to see great views of Athens city is from Lycabettus hill. The best method for reaching the top is by simply walking up one of the many paths, rather than paying 7 euros for the funicular railway. By David Goorney

Athens Travel Guide - Athens is the capital city of Greece with a metropolitan population of 3.7 million inhabitants. It is in many ways the birthplace of Classical Greece, and therefore of Western civilization. The sprawling city is bounded on three sides by Mt Ymettos, Mt Parnitha and Mt Pendeli; whilst inside Athens are twelve hills [the seven historical are: Acropolis, Areopagus, Hill of Philopappus, Observatory Hill (Muses Hill), Pnyx, Lykavittos (Lycabettus), Tourkovounia (Anchesmus)], the Acropolis and Lykavittos being the most prominent. These hills provide a refuge from the noise and commotion of the crowded city streets, offering amazing views down to Saronic Gulf, Athens' boundary with the Aegean Sea on its southern side. The streets of Athens (clearly signposted in Greek and E...
I've known you a long long time
And you say you're a friend of mine
But you're the malignant kind, aren't you?
I've told you I'm on your side
I'm here for you all the time
Yet you can't make your eyes meet mine, can you?
That you can't look me in the eye
I can live with
That you're acting like a child
I can live with
But that all you seem to do when I'm around is cross your arms and wear a frown
You're a man why can't you act like one
Your lips are thin and your eyes look tired
What's eating you up inside
I think that you'd like to hide from you
I look at you and my eyes stay dry
Cause I've been through this many times
Now I'm cold to the world unwise of you
That you can't look me in the eye
I can live with
That you're acting like a child
I can live with
But that all you seem to do when I'm around is cross your arms and wear a frown
You're a man why can't you act like one
But that all you seem to do when I'm around
