A Turkish football club’s president has punched a referee in the face at the end of a Super Lig match.
Ankaragucu president Faruk Koca struck Halil Umut Meler at the end of the match at the Eryaman Stadium.
Ankaragucu appeared on course to beat Rizespor before an equaliser for the visitors in injury time.

A Turkish Super Lig game erupted in chaos when the match referee was punched by the president of one of the teams before being kicked as he lay on the ground.

Major breakthrough on nuclear fusion energy - BBC News
European scientists say they have made a major breakthrough in their quest to develop practical nuclear fusion - the energy process that powers the stars.
The UK-based JET laboratory has smashed its own world record for the amount of energy it can extract by squeezing together two forms of hydrogen.
If nuclear fusion can be successfully recreated on Earth it holds out the potential of virtually unlimited supplies of low-carbon, low-radiation energy.
The experiments produced 59 megajoules of energy over five seconds, more than double what was achieved in similar tests back in 1997.

Stars have cores hot and dense enough to force atomic nuclei together, forming larger, heavier nuclei in a process known as fusion. In this process, the mass of the end products is slightly less than the mass of the initial atoms. But that “lost” mass doesn’t disappear — it’s converted to energy ... a lot of energy. So, can we harness this energy to power the world? George Zaidan investigates.

Could nuclear fusion generate an infinite amount of clean energy? In contrast to nuclear fission, nuclear fusion looks favorable when it comes to environmental and safety concerns. Could nuclear fusion be the solution to our environmental problems?
The sun and other stars generate energy. In the sun, a fusion fire burns in a huge ball of plasma. Here, hydrogen nuclei fuse to form helium. This releases a lot of energy. Fusion research is attempting to replicate these processes here on Earth.
This endeavor is being led by the ITER mega-project, an international collaboration worth approximately 20 billion dollars. Some 5,000 people active in science and technology and hailing from all around the globe are working on ITER. Together, they are working on a gigantic puzzle consisting of more than a million components. Research into nuclear fusion has been ongoing for decades. But so far, it has proven incredibly difficult to carry out nuclear fusion on a scale that ultimately produces more energy than is needed to initiate fusion.
In the sun, heat and pressure force the fusion of atomic nuclei. On Earth, there are two methods for this: magnetic and laser fusion. Along with a major German project, W-7X, a new wave of start-ups are vying to be the first to produce clean, inexhaustible energy.
The film explains how nuclear fusion works and what role it could play in the European energy landscape, the challenges involved, the difference between fission and fusion and whether this just might be the solution to humanity's hunger for energy.

You’ve probably heard about nuclear fusion. Maybe you've heard recent news about the Livermore National Lab achieving a nuclear fusion breakthrough called "ignition" - meaning it produced more energy than it took to start the reaction. That's a huge deal! But it leaves other questions unanswered. I wanted to know more.
I started by asking the CEO of the nuclear fusion company Helion all my big questions: What is nuclear fusion, really? I know it happens on the sun, but how can we do it on earth? Are we doing it already? Then, I ask one last question: “I’ve heard about kids building fusion reactors in their moms’ garage… if fusion is so hard… what are THEY doing?” The answer sets off the most fun and ambitious Huge If True episode yet.
It turns out that you can actually BUILD a nuclear fusion device. So I team up with my friend Simone Giertz to try. When something goes wrong, it turns into an explainer on what’s really going on with the world’s most-hyped energy source.

European scientists say they have made a major breakthrough in their quest to develop practical nuclear fusion - the energy process that powers the stars.
The UK-based JET laboratory has smashed its own world record for the amount of energy it can extract by squeezing together two forms of hydrogen.
If nuclear fusion can be successfully recreated on Earth it holds out the potential of virtually unlimited supplies of low-carbon, low-radiation energy.

El Sol y otros astros generan energía: en una enorme bola de plasma arde un fuego de fusión en el que los núcleos de los átomos de hidrógeno se fusionan para formar helio. Esto libera mucha energía. La investigación sobre fusión intenta replicar estos procesos en la Tierra.
Este empeño es liderado por el megaproyecto ITER, una colaboración internacional con un valor de 20 mil millones de dólares. Alrededor de 5.000 personas de la ciencia y la tecnología de todo el mundo están trabajando en ITER para armar un gigantesco rompecabezas, compuesto por más de un millón de elementos. Las investigaciones llevan ya décadas, pero es increíblemente difícil realizar una fusión nuclear a una escala que termine produciendo más energía de la necesaria para iniciar la fusión.
En el Sol, el calor extremo y la presión obligan a los núcleos atómicos a fusionarse. En la Tierra existen para esto dos métodos: la fusión magnética y la fusión láser. Junto con un importante proyecto alemán, el W-7X, existe una nueva ola de empresas emergentes que compiten por ser las primeras en producir energía limpia e inagotable.
Este reportaje explica cómo funciona la fusión nuclear, el papel que podría desempeñar en el panorama energético europeo, los desafíos que plantea, la diferencia entre fisión nuclear y fusión nuclear y si esta es la solución a la demanda de energía de la humanidad.
